• The New Apostolic Reformation Exposed: The Hidden History of the Five Fold Ministry
    May 6 2026
What if one of the most widely taught leadership frameworks in charismatic Christianity was never actually in the Bible? In this episode of Faith on the Fringe, Leah and Malaine trace the hidden history of the Fivefold Ministry, the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers hierarchy taught across many Pentecostal and charismatic spaces. They begin with Ephesians 4, and how one section of Scripture became the foundation for an entire church government model. From there, they follow the language of Fivefold Ministry back through British Israelism, John Alexander Dowie, the Latter Rain movement, and the New Apostolic Reformation. This conversation exposes how a modern framework became dressed in ancient apostolic language, why servant leadership matters, how spiritual authority can turn into control, and why believers must learn to trace teachings back to their roots. They also close with a practical three-question framework for testing any church teaching, plus a soul ties renunciation prayer for anyone who has been spiritually bound to unhealthy authority structures.Link to the soul tie renunciation prayer here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BOOPfOrV4kpNfuYdfxsVNruoz06upFityEc0SdOlzqc/edit?usp=sharing “Truth does not need protection from scrutiny. Only deception does.” -Leah Steele Barnett Key Takeaways The phrase Fivefold Ministry does not appear in Scripture, even though Ephesians 4 is often used to defend the framework.Ephesians 4 describes gifts given to equip the body of Christ, not a hierarchy of spiritual offices ruling over the church. The word “until” in Ephesians 4 matters because it points toward maturity in the body, not permanent institutional control. The modern Fivefold Ministry framework traces through historical streams many believers have never been taught to examine.British Israelism shaped parts of early restorationist and Pentecostal language in ways that still echo through modern charismatic systems. The New Apostolic Reformation systematized Fivefold language into a global church leadership model.Jesus taught servant leadership, humility, and direct access to the Father, not spiritual gatekeeping through human offices.Any teaching presented as biblical truth should be tested by Scripture, history, fruit, and whether it builds up the whole body of Christ. Featured Scripture Ephesians 4:11-13 “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Application: Ephesians 4 is the central passage used to defend Fivefold Ministry, but the text itself points toward equipping the saints and building the body into maturity. It does not name a permanent hierarchy. It does not use the phrase Fivefold Ministry. It does not place apostles at the top of a governmental chain. The passage is beautiful, functional, and body-focused. The problem begins when a framework is laid over the text and treated as if it is the text. • Christian Witchcraft: False Prophets, Spiritual Narcissism & Religious Trauma w/ Hector Gonzalez
    May 3 2026
What if the most dangerous deception in the church is wearing Christian language, quoting Scripture, and calling itself discernment? In this episode of Faith on the Fringe, Leah and Malaine sit down with Hector Gonzalez, evangelist, founder of Theology Wars, and one of the boldest voices confronting spiritual deception inside modern Christianity today. Hector came to faith at 15 after surviving abuse connected to the church, grew up with Santeria in his family lineage, and has spent years in missions, evangelism, spiritual warfare, and theological training. He brings the kind of perspective this conversation demands: spirit-filled, biblically serious, and unwilling to flatter a broken church system. Together, they talk about Christian witchcraft, false prophets, spiritual narcissism, religious trauma, charismatic manipulation, the Python spirit in Acts 16, Jezebel, church hurt, Christian deconstruction, and why so many believers can sense something is wrong but do not always have the language to name it. This conversation is a call to test the fruit, search the Scriptures, and stop confusing supernatural performance with submission to the Lord Jesus Christ. Featured Quote “The biggest, most protective thing that you could do in your life is to actually seriously follow God.” -Hector Gonzalez Listen to Hector's episode with Leah on The Culture Cast - https://pod.link/1797035500/episode/ODljOWY5OTctNDJmMS00NjYxLWI5NzUtYjM5MzAwYzY2N2NjKey Takeaways False prophets are not always easy to spot, especially when they know how to use Christian language, spiritual authority, and charismatic performance. The Python spirit in Acts 16 gives believers a biblical pattern for testing what sounds true but may be operating from the wrong spirit.Spiritual narcissism thrives when leaders become untouchable, unquestionable, and protected by the very systems they are supposed to shepherd.Church hurt and religious trauma are driving many people into Christian deconstruction, especially when counterfeit spirituality misrepresents Jesus.Charismatic witchcraft is not the same as the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The gifts are real, but they must remain fully submitted to Christ.Healthy leadership welcomes honest questions, biblical accountability, transparency, and correction.Discernment grows through intimacy with the Lord, knowledge of Scripture, and the courage to test the fruit without falling into fear. Featured Scripture Acts 16:16-18 “As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. She followed Paul and us, crying out, ‘These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.’ And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, ‘I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.’ And it came out that very hour.” Application: The girl in Acts 16 was saying words that sounded true, but Paul still discerned the spirit behind them. That matters deeply in the modern charismatic church. Accuracy alone does not prove purity. Supernatural language does not prove submission. Believers are called to test the spirit, examine the fruit, and stay anchored to the Lord Jesus Christ rather than being moved by gifting, intensity, or platform. • Witchcraft to Jesus: Our Testimonies
    Apr 26 2026
The kingdom of darkness pays in favor and blessing while collecting the bill from your life force. In this episode we tell you our stories and share how we came out of witchcraft and the occult, and what changed on the other side. This is supernatural testimony from two former New Agers who went all the way in. We talk about how we both got pulled in, what was running underneath the new age life that nobody on the outside could see, and what the cost actually was. We talk about the difference between the favor of the kingdom of darkness and the favor of the Lord, why the church keeps losing seekers to the new age, and what shifted when we finally said yes to Jesus. If you're in the New Age right now and you're starting to wonder if the cost is worth it, this is the episode for you. "The enemy grants favor and blessing, but there is always a price to be paid. Typically that price is your life force. There is still a blood sacrifice in the devil's kingdom. It's your blood, and you pay that price one way or another." -Leah Steele Barnett Key Takeaways Not every blessing is from God. The wrong father gives uncanny favor too.The enemy comes to collect. Every agreement has a payment due, and the bill is your life force.Jesus is the deeper supernatural the new age was counterfeiting the whole time. The church loses seekers to the new age because the new age is delivering signs and wonders the church stopped operating in.Longevity in church doesn't equal spiritual maturity. Maturity yields authority.Witches are in the pulpits, the pews, and the personal development industry. Discernment is the discipline. Featured Scripture John 16:13 (NASB) "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come." Application: The Holy Spirit is the one who leads believers into all truth. That includes the truth about what we were doing in the New Age, the truth about who held our covering then, and the truth about who holds it now. Both of our exits started the same way: the Spirit revealed what had been hidden, and we couldn't unsee it. The deception in the kingdom of darkness is real, and the only way out is the One who is Truth. • Cherry-Picked, Weaponized, Sold: Christian Zionism Decoded.
    Apr 26 2026
Christian Zionism is a 19th century invention. John Nelson Darby manufactured dispensationalism in the 1830s, the Scofield Reference Bible canonized it in 1909, and Dwight L. Moody preached it into American evangelical culture from there. Two hundred years of doctrine sold to the modern church as two thousand. In this episode we take a hammer to the theology most American evangelicals treat as untouchable. Biblical Israel and the modern state share a name and very little else. Jacob was renamed Israel in Genesis 32, his descendants became a covenant people, and the political nation founded May 14, 1948 is not the same, no matter what your pastor may tell you. Conflating the two is the central trick of Christian Zionism. We brought the receipts this episode. Ben-Gurion's secular Zionism. Truman's eleven-minute recognition of Israel as Cold War strategy. AIPAC and FARA and JFK. Then we go to Scripture. Genesis 12:3 weaponized as a loyalty test. Romans 11's olive tree grafting in by faith in Christ. Matthew 24:34 saying this generation, not ten, not twenty. Rapture theology surfaced as recent invention. Fulfilled eschatology offered as a reasonable reading of the text the church was taught to fear. Kingdom theology offered as the place to land. Jesus walked with the poor, the captive, the bleeding woman, the leper, the Samaritan, the outsider. The body of Christ is called to discernment over allegiance to a flag, and Palestinian Christians being targeted in Gaza are our brothers and sisters. Ask hard questions. Refuse manufactured theology. Return your eyes to Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Featured Quote "Scripture has been weaponized by particular people that have particular agendas that are not looking out for your best interest. We need to be aware and discerning anytime one scripture is cherry picked and then used for an agenda." -Leah Steele Barnett Key Takeaways Christian Zionism is a 19th century invention. John Nelson Darby developed dispensationalism in the 1830s, the Scofield Reference Bible embedded it into the margins of American Protestantism in 1909, and Dwight L. Moody preached it into the platform from there.Biblical Israel and the modern state share a name and very little else. Jacob was renamed Israel in Genesis 32, his descendants became a covenant people, and Romans 11 grafts the spiritual seed of Abraham into Christ by faith. The political nation founded May 14, 1948 is a separate category, and conflating the two is the central trick of Christian Zionism.Genesis 12:3 has been cherry-picked and weaponized as a loyalty test for a modern nation state. The promise to Abraham flows through Christ as the seed, with the covenant extended to everyone grafted in by faith.Rapture theology was manufactured to justify a specific political vision. Darby's pre-tribulation rapture is a novel doctrine that reinserted ethnic Israel into eschatology and tied God's prophetic clock to a future political state. Without Darby you do not get Left Behind, Hagee, or the modern Christian Zionist foreign policy posture. The historical record is not hidden. Ben-Gurion ran on labor Zionism, Truman recognized Israel eleven minutes after declaration as Cold War strategy, AIPAC was founded in 1954, and JFK pushed for them to register under FARA before his assassination. The dots are receipts, and Christians are allowed to study history without being called antisemitic for noticing the pattern.Fulfilled eschatology is a real biblical position with real biblical support. Jesus said in Matthew 24:34 that this generation would not pass away until all these things happened, and the apostles expected His return in their lifetimes because that is what He told them. The dispensationalist overlay stretches one generation into two thousand years. Featured Scripture Romans 11:20-25 (ESV, condensed) "But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. If you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree." Application: Christian Zionism is a 19th century invention, and Romans 11 is one of the scriptures the manufacturing process had to go around rather than through. The covenant community is the olive tree, with Christ as the root. Natural branches were broken off for unbelief and wild branches got grafted in by faith in Him. The blessing of God runs through Jesus Christ of Nazareth alone, never through a flag, never through a nation state, never through a doctrine sold by a 19th century preacher. • How We Vet the Fringe: Revelation, Research, and the Ethiopian Canon
    Apr 26 2026
Don't take our word for any of this. This is the foundations episode where we walk you through how we research, vet, and decide what makes it to the microphone. In this episode we take you through our process. Scripture first. Source-level study across the Ethiopian Bible, second temple writings, and the early church fathers. Prayer, godly counsel, and discernment on when something received through revelation is ready to share publicly and when it stays in the prayer closet. We trace King Solomon's signet ring to Aleister Crowley and the modern occult. We open up the Ethiopian Bible's eighty-one books and the question of why Ethiopia kept what Rome and the Reformers cut. We anchor it all in Hosea 4:6, because God's people are destroyed for lack of knowledge and the kingdom of darkness has been studying the full curriculum the whole time. Extra-biblical does not mean unbiblical, and the Ethiopian church kept what the Western canon cut. If you've been told the Protestant 66 are the only safe books, this is the episode for you. "Our prayer for you is that you are not destroyed, but you are empowered, that you are equipped, that you step into the warrior anointing that the Lord has for you at this hour." -Malaine Lea Butler Key Takeaways In this episode: What's in the Ethiopian Bible's eighty-one books and what the Protestant canon cutHow canonization actually happened (and why the Council of Nicaea is not the answer most people think it is)Solomon's signet ring, his fall, and the line straight to Aleister Crowley and the modern occultWhy the Book of Enoch was removed and why Jude quoted it anywayWhere to start reading extra-biblical books for yourself without going off the deep end Featured Scripture Hosea 4:6 (NASB) "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children." Application: Lack of knowledge brings destruction. Extra-biblical does not mean unbiblical. The Ethiopian Bible, the books removed from the Septuagint when the Protestant canon was narrowed, second temple writings, and the texts the early church read alongside Scripture fill in the framework most American pulpits never teach. • Two Ex-New Agers, One Supernatural Bible, Zero Apologies
    Apr 26 2026
Two ex-New Agers walk into a podcast. Now we host the only Spirit-filled supernatural Bible show that goes deeper than Sunday morning dares to. Faith on the Fringe is officially live! In this premiere episode,we lay out who we are, why we're doing this, and what you're actually signing up for. Both of us came out of the New Age, witchcraft, and the occult before Jesus pulled us clean through to the other side. Now we host a Kingdom-forward, Bible-obsessed, supernatural-theology podcast for the theology-curious, disillusioned charismatics, and truth-seekers who were told to stop asking questions. This episode covers why the Western church fears questions the pastor can't answer, why most of your "foundational" doctrine is actually less than 500 years old, how dispensationalism and rapture theology were manufactured, and why the Holy Spirit was given precisely so you could ask Him anything. We also name the thing directly: there is a strategy to call women crazy, hysterical, and conspiracy theorists specifically to silence us. We're not here for it. Topics we preview for the full season: Nephilim, the Watchers, Genesis 6, the Book of Enoch, the Divine Council, pre-Adamic theology, tohu va bohu, fulfilled eschatology, the Fivefold Lie, British Israelism, Christian witches and warlocks, charismatic deception, and the supernatural worldview Scripture actually assumes. If you've been asking questions you've been told not to ask, you're home. Spirit-Filled. Bible-Obsessed. Slightly Unhinged. "We're not necessarily conspiracy theorists. We're truth seekers and we're willing to not be lazy about it. We're willing to do the research. We're willing to read the things. We're willing to investigate. We're also willing to be 100 percent wrong about things." — Malaine Lea Butler Key Takeaways Questioning is biblical. Jesus never shut down a question. He answered them with love, encouraged the apostles to ask, and promised the Holy Spirit as a Counselor precisely so we could keep asking. If your pastor discourages questions, that's the flag. The Western church's current theology is young. Most doctrines Christians treat as foundational didn't arrive until the Reformation (1500s) and didn't become dominant until the 1800s. John Darby's dispensationalism. Scofield's Reference Bible. The rapture. These are all recent invention.Women have been deliberately muzzled. There is a strategy, call it Luciferian if you want, to label women crazy, hysterical, or conspiracy theorists specifically to silence us from asking the questions men are allowed to ask. Context changes everything. The Bible was written for us but not to us. Understanding second temple Judaism, Roman history, and the world the apostles actually lived in isn't extra. It's essential. Extra-biblical texts like the Book of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees restore the framework the early church had and the Western church lost.Research and discernment are spiritual disciplines. Before accepting any doctrine, ask: if this were a lie, who would benefit? If the answer is the enemy, investigate. The Holy Spirit reveals truth to those who seek with humility and a willingness to be wrong.Coming out of the New Age doesn't mean leaving the supernatural behind. It means finally meeting the real supernatural King. The Kingdom of God is more alive, more real, and more present than anything the occult ever promised. Featured Scripture John 16:12-13 (NASB) "I have many more things to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth." Jesus told His disciples that more revelation was coming, but they weren't ready yet. The invitation is to grow in capacity through the Holy Spirit's work as Counselor. Which means: asking hard questions, following Scripture where it leads, and refusing to shrink your spiritual formation to fit what your church can currently handle. • Genesis 6: The Part of the Bible Your Pastor Skips Right Over
    Apr 18 2026
Fallen angels. Nephilim. The Book of Enoch. Genesis 6 is the chapter the Western church treats like a family secret. Faith on the Fringe officially launches April 27, but Leah Steele Barnett and Malaine Lea Butler wanted to give you a preview of the show and crack open the most explosive chapter in scripture. The sons of God who descended on Mount Hermon. The Watchers who taught forbidden knowledge. The Nephilim, their hybrid offspring, whose disembodied spirits (per the Enochian tradition) are the demons still afflicting the earth today. Why did Augustine quietly rewrite this interpretation in the 4th and 5th century, abandoning what early church fathers like Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, and Tertullian had taught straight? And why does the rest of Scripture, spiritual warfare, principalities, demonic possession, the ministry of Jesus himself, only make sense when you read Genesis 6 the way it was originally received? This is the foundation for everything on Faith on the Fringe: supernatural biblical theology, Kingdom-forward eschatology, and the questions the modern church stopped asking. Two ex-New Agers. One chapter. Zero religious performance. Subscribe now so you don't miss Episode 1. Full season drops April 27. Spirit-Filled. Bible-Obsessed. Slightly Unhinged. Meet Your Hosts Leah Steele Barnett is a faith-led cultural commentator, AI educator, and digital systems strategist working at the intersection of technology, culture, and Kingdom stewardship. Host of The Culture Cast, she examines cultural deception, belief systems, and power structures through a biblical lens, centering discernment, authorship protection, and responsible leverage in an AI-driven economy. Pattern-oriented, allergic to hype, she reads the text, asks the hard questions, and refuses to let comfortable doctrine go unchallenged. Malaine Lea Butler is a deliverance-driven disciple of Jesus Christ who walked out of the New Age and into radical transformation through the Gospel. Host of Kingdom Talk and founder of Eden House, she creates space for raw, confrontational conversations that lead hearts into full surrender and freedom in Christ. She is not here to play church. She is here to see captives set free, minds renewed, and lukewarm faith lit ablaze. Together, Leah and Malaine host the only female co-hosted show going this deep into supernatural biblical theology. Spirit-Filled. Bible-Obsessed. Slightly Unhinged. Featured Quote "Genesis 6 might be the most explosive chapter in scripture and is the crack in the biblical narrative that exposes an entire unseen world. So who were the sons of God? And why were they procreating with human women? And why does every ancient culture openly document divine human hybrids while the modern church either ignores or glosses over this chapter?" — Leah Steele Barnett Key Takeaways The sons of God in Genesis 6 are heavenly beings. Angels who rebelled against God's order and descended on Mount Hermon to procreate with human women. The early church knew this. So did every ancient culture that documented divine-human hybrids.Their hybrid offspring were the Nephilim. In the Enochian tradition, when the Nephilim died, their disembodied spirits became the demons still roaming the earth today. Disputed in some traditions, this framework is the lens that makes the rest of Scripture cohere.Augustine (4th to 5th century) personally rejected the idea that angels could take physical form and rewrote the interpretation of Genesis 6. His "Sethite theory" replaced the supernatural reading and quietly drained the supernatural worldview out of the Western church.Early church fathers like Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Tertullian, and Clement openly taught Genesis 6 the way the text actually reads. Augustine walked away from that consensus centuries later, and the Western church followed him.Without Genesis 6, the rest of the Bible stops making sense. Rulers. Powers. Principalities. Territorial spirits. Jesus delivering people from demons in nearly every chapter of the Gospels. All of it rests on this chapter. Take Genesis 6 out and you get the cessationist, powerless, confused Christianity most of us were handed. Featured Scripture Genesis 6:1-4 (NKJV) "Now it came to pass when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. And the Lord said, My spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh. Yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years. There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown."
