It is no secret that Mothers are truly the unsung heroes of today’s families. The amount of work, errands, tasks, and support mothers do day in and day out is never-ending. It’s keeping the household and family running. It’s planning birthday parties and family activities. It’s running to the grocery store while waiting to pick up the dry cleaning. It’s making sure the kids and spouse have everything they need… often putting themselves and their health last. It can feel like an Invisible Burden... an evergrowing weight carried on the shoulders of many moms. And our society expects mothers to carry this load without question. What happens when we carry additional weight…? Our bodies are stressed and challenged in a magnitude of ways that can lead to stress, poor health. The Invisible Burden can lead to weight gain, constant low energy, hormone imbalance. It can lead to being stretched beyond reach. What’s worse is that hardworking mothers like you bearing this burden, are often not seen or acknowledged for carrying the contributions and the acts of the family. If you’re a stay-at-home mom, society often expects you to carry the invisible burden without question. If you’re a working mom, you’re also expected to carry the invisible burden just as much while working to provide an income to your family. You have so many important things pulling you in different directions that it often means you put yourself… and your health… last. I’m Dr. Anthony Balduzzi, Founder, and CEO of the Fit Mother Project and the host of this podcast… and I get all of this. Growing up… my dad died when I was 9 years old… and my mom became a widow with two young boys… and she had to fight to raise us and keep our family together. I started the Fit Mother Project and created this podcast with the sole purpose of helping create stronger and more powerful mothers through losing weight without restrictive diets, crazy workouts, or the image of “being perfect.” Our Fit Mother team has helped over 10,000 women become a stronger more fit version of themselves and we know this podcast will help you do the same on your journey to a better you. You can take care of your family and work… and still make time for yourself and your health. I’ll show you how XYZ. It’s time for you to put yourself and your health first. • Kidney Health for Women Over 40: The Blind Spot Your Doctor Isn't Testing (Ep. 211)
    Oct 16 2026
In Episode 211 of the Fit Mother Project Podcast, I continue the Blind Spots series with an organ most women never think about until something goes wrong:... The kidneys.I start with one question. "When did your doctor last test your urine for protein?"For most women the answer is never, or not in years. Yet this cheap, simple test gives the earliest warning of kidney damage, and it gets missed all the time.I explain why your kidneys do far more than make urine. They help control your blood pressure, tell your body to make red blood cells, activate vitamin D and keep your electrolytes in balance.I cover the lab markers to ask for at your next physical, including why women who lift weights or take creatine should ask about cystatin C.I also clear up common myths about protein and creatine and look at the link between your kidneys and your adrenal glands.I finish with a simple, food-first plan to protect your kidneys for decades to come.More than 1 in 7 adults have chronic kidney disease, and as many as 9 in 10 of them don't know it.If you've been blaming fatigue, poor sleep, swollen ankles or waking up at night to pee on age and stress, this episode will help you look a little deeper.Rate & Review – If this episode taught you something new, please take a moment to rate and review the Fit Mother Project Podcast.Your review helps more busy moms over 40 find practical, science-backed health information they won't hear anywhere else.Join the Fit Mother Community – If you want support putting these habits into action, come join the Fit Mother community. You'll find structured programs, real coaching and thousands of women building strong, healthy lives together.Fit Mother Project Key Takeaways:Your kidneys run more than you think. They filter 150–180 liters of blood plasma a day. They also help regulate blood pressure, red blood cell production, active vitamin D and your electrolyte and pH balance.Kidney decline is silent. More than 1 in 7 adults have chronic kidney disease, and up to 90% don't know it. Early signs like fatigue, poor sleep, swollen ankles, itchy skin and foamy urine are often blamed on age or stress.Ask for a urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR). It's a cheap spot urine test that catches early kidney damage, but it's rarely ordered, especially for people with high blood pressure. If you lift weights or take creatine, ask about cystatin C. Creatinine-based eGFR can make your kidneys look worse on paper than they are. Cystatin C isn't affected by muscle mass or creatine.Blood pressure and blood sugar are the two biggest levers. Diabetes and high blood pressure cause about 2 out of 3 new cases of kidney failure. Protecting your metabolism protects your kidneys.Daily NSAID use adds up. Regular ibuprofen or naproxen for chronic back or knee pain reduces blood flow to the kidneys. Look for the root cause of the pain instead of masking it.Higher protein doesn't damage healthy kidneys. A 2018 meta-analysis of 28 studies found no harm to kidney function in healthy adults. If you already have kidney disease, talk to your doctor about your protein intake.Your adrenal glands work closely with your kidneys. Morning sunlight helps regulate cortisol. If your blood pressure won't come down even on medication, ask about screening for primary aldosteronism. To prevent kidney stones, drink more water and eat fewer processed foods. Excess sodium pulls calcium into the urine. Don't cut dietary calcium. Aim for about 1,000 mg a day from food.A Fit Mother–style plate protects your kidneys. Balance protein with potassium-rich produce, beans, nuts, olive oil and fish. Coffee and hibiscus tea may offer extra support.Ready for Lifelong Health? Join Fit Mother for LifeYou've been trying. • Blind Spots Series: Liver Health - The Metabolism Key (Ep. 210)
    Oct 12 2026
In Episode 210 of the Fit Mother Project Podcast, Dr. Anthony Balduzzi shines a light on the most underestimated organ in your body: your liver. Most of us file it under "processes alcohol and medications" and move on — but your liver is the central processing plant for your blood sugar, cholesterol, hormones, digestion, and detoxification.... And because it has no pain fibers, it never sends you a warning signal when it's struggling.Dr. A breaks down why roughly 1 in 3 adults is currently storing fat in their liver (often without knowing it), what's driving this epidemic, and exactly what the research says you can do about it — from fat loss percentages to fasting protocols to the specific foods and fibers that support liver regeneration. If you've ever wondered why your energy, cholesterol, or weight loss results feel "stuck," this episode may reveal a missing piece.Rate & Review – If this episode opened your eyes to something you've never been taught before, please take a moment to rate and review the Fit Mother Project Podcast.Your review helps more women over 40 find practical, empowering health information that can genuinely change their lives.Join the Fit Mother Community – If you want support putting these ideas into action, come join the Fit Mother community. You'll find encouragement, practical guidance, and a group of women committed to building strong, healthy lives together.Fit Mother Project Key Takeaways:Your liver has no pain fibers — it can be inflamed, fatty, or scarred and you'd feel absolutely nothing until the problem is already advancedRoughly 38% of adults (nearly 1 in 3) now have fatty liver, a ~50% increase over the past two decadesThe liver has 8 major jobs: blood sugar regulation, cholesterol handling, bile production, biotransformation (detox), antioxidant (glutathione) production, hormone clearing, protein/clotting factor production, and nutrient storageFructose (not glucose) is what drives fat production in the liver — this is why soda, sweetened teas, and high-fructose corn syrup are so damaging, while whole fruit is notLosing just 7–10% of body weight significantly reduces liver fat and inflammation; losing over 10% leads to ~90% resolution of fatty liver in researchExercise reduces liver fat even when the scale doesn't move — both strength training and cardio protect liver functionSimple annual blood work (ALT, AST, GGT, platelets) can flag liver stress early — ask your doctor about these markers at your next physicalAlcohol is not "neutral" for anyone with existing metabolic or liver stress — B vitamins and glutathione get depleted every time your liver processes itA diet rich in sulfur foods (garlic, onions, broccoli, cauliflower), fiber (apple pectin, psyllium), and protein gives your liver the raw materials it needs to regenerateA seasonal "liver reset" — a month of zero alcohol, zero added sugar, more fiber, daily movement, and a weekly fast — can meaningfully support long-term liver healthReady For Your Own Health Reset? • Age-Related Hearing Loss: The Blind Spot Affecting Your Balance, Brain & Energy (Ep. 209)
    Oct 5 2026
In this episode of the podcast, Dr. Anthony Balduzzi continues the "Blind Spots" series by unpacking one of the most overlooked aspects of healthy aging:... Your hearing. If you've ever come home from a dinner out feeling completely wiped out — not because the food or company was bad, but because you spent the whole night straining to catch every word — this episode is for you.Dr. A explains why hearing loss isn't just about things getting quieter. It's cognitively expensive, pulling resources away from your memory, balance, and coordination. He breaks down what's actually happening inside your ear, why hearing loss is linked to falls and even dementia risk, and gives you a simple five-question self-test you can run tonight. Then he closes with real, practical nutrition and lifestyle strategies — think omega-3s, folate-rich foods, and protecting your ears from everyday noise — so you can preserve your hearing (and your independence) for decades to come.Rate & Review – If this episode opened your eyes to something you've never been taught before, please take a moment to rate and review the Fit Mother Project Podcast. Your review helps more women over 40 find practical, empowering health information that can genuinely change their lives.Join the Fit Mother Community – If you want support putting these ideas into action — alongside real coaching, structured programs, and women who are doing this work right beside you — come join Fit Mother For Life.Fit Mother Project Key Takeaways:Hearing loss is the default trajectory of the human body — not a condition only "unlucky" people get. By age 65–74, 1 in 3 adults has it; by 75+, it's nearly half.Listening is cognitively expensive. When sound is degraded, your brain has to work harder to reconstruct words, pulling resources away from memory, attention, and balance.A 25-decibel hearing loss (mild impairment) was associated with nearly 3x higher odds of falling in the past year — and every additional 10-decibel loss raised that risk further.Age-related hearing loss (presbycusis) happens when tiny hair cells in your inner ear (the cochlea) wear down — and unlike birds and fish, humans cannot regenerate them.High frequencies go first, which is why consonants (s, f, th, k) blur before vowels do — this is the "I can hear you, I just can't understand you" phenomenon. The decibel scale is logarithmic. A concert or earbuds at full volume (100–110 dB) is only safe for about 15 minutes — that's the same ear damage as 8 hours of mowing the lawn.A 2024 Lancet Commission study found hearing loss was the single largest modifiable risk factor for dementia out of 14 factors studied — more than diabetes or cardiovascular disease.Run the "restaurant test" tonight: if you answer yes to two or more of five simple questions (missing words, watching mouths, feeling drained after socializing, etc.), it's time for a baseline audiogram.Cardiovascular health protects your hearing — the inner ear's blood supply has no backup, so strength training, blood sugar control, and blood pressure management all matter.Specific nutrients help: folate (B9) from lentils, chickpeas, and leafy greens, and omega-3s from fish like wild salmon were both linked to improved hearing outcomes in research studies.Ready To Stop Putting Yourself Last? This episode is a reminder: the small things you do for your body today — your hearing, your heart, your movement — compound into the decades you get to spend with the people you love. That's exactly why Fit Mother For Life exists. It's not another fad diet or an app full of guesswork. It's a full ecosystem built specifically for busy women over 40 — workouts, nutrition, hormone and menopause support, daily motivation, a real human coach who messages you back within a day, and a Sisterhood of 6,000+ women who notice when you go quiet. You'll start with your 30-Day QuickStart Plan (FM30X) — built to bring your energy back and start taking fat off in your first month — and your coach will guide you from there into 15+ complete programs for muscle building, stress relief, mobility, and more.Start your first 30 days for $39.
