This means increasing the amount of hours of training a week. We would say high volume would be anything from 12 hours a week plus of training.

    They will be sharing their years of coaching knowledge on problems encountered with excessive training, how we can benefit from training more, why it's important to train smart and how we need to learn to listen to our bodies.

    Elspeth, your host will be joined by Jackie. We know Jackie, as she has been coached by GGSC Coach Rachel for the past 2 and a half years. In that time Jackie has learned a lot about herself and how to train and fuel properly, whilst performing better in the events she enters. Jackie is approaching 60 year old next year and has remarkable strength on the bike. She attended a GGSC advanced Level camp this year and was one of the strongest women in the group. She is a great example to help inspire us that we can be strong women cyclists at any age.

    Jackie will share with is what she loves about cycling, how she progressed in her passion by learning more about herself and the friendships she has made throughout her journey.

    On this show Elspeth will be joined by Abi. We know Abi, as she is one of the first women who came to GGSC for our online coaching back in 2020. Abi has always been an endurance junkie, by setting herself big challenges, like bike packing around the UK, everesting up her local hill, completing Ironman distance triathlons and the biggest yet North Cape 4000, a self supported event from Italy to the North Cape, where she rode self supported for over 4000km. This all started a few years ago when she thought she would give RIDE London a go. Abi shares with us what motivated her, why she loves time on the bike and how she practically takes on such events.

For both of them the passion of cycling grew to form bigger parts of our lives. Through building communities, and the desire to overcome the continual challenges that cycling gives us. The difference is that Lesley took up cycling in her 60's, so she will share her journey in her fears and perseverance at always improving in the sport.

Since then it's certainly not been all plain sailing as last year Susie had 2 serious accidents that meant a lot of time off the bike and in rehab. It's great Susie is now back cycling and she will share with us how her positive attitude kept her training and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel through this difficult time.
