  • Unemployment Worse Than The Pandemic, 59 Advisers On $400k & The "Fairness" Argument That Falls Apart | Court of Public Opinion
    Oct 19 2026

Jeremy Cordeaux is in the garage with Pete and Gary, and opens on the number the government would rather you did not notice: unemployment is now higher than it was at the peak of the pandemic, with 50,000 small businesses gone in the past eighteen months. He argues Labor keeps loading up what it calls reform, measures designed to save or make the government money, while doing nothing to curb its own spending.

He reads the mood inside Labor as the finger pointing begins, with talk of a reshuffle and questions over Treasurer Jim Chalmers, and warns it is starting to echo the Rudd and Gillard years. Then he takes apart the fairness argument put by Assistant Treasurer Dan Mulino on trusts and tax, pointing to the Comcar, the superannuation and the travel allowances that politicians enjoy and the rest of us pay for, and asks where the real savings are: the 59 personal advisers to the Prime Minister on up to $400,000 each.

Plus Labor's digital duty of care and the we will control slip on free speech, why gambling advertising escapes the same scrutiny, a brief word on the allegations around Senator Jordon Steele-John, and the usual look back at this day in history, from the Sydney Opera House opening in 1973 to Tom Petty.

  • 59 Advisers, 156 Trusts And A Secret Michelin Bill: Jeremy Cordeaux In The Garage
    Oct 21 2026

Jeremy Cordeaux is back in the garage with Pete and Gary for another Court of Public Opinion, and he is still counting the cost of government.

He returns to the 59 personal advisers working for the Prime Minister and asks the question nobody in Canberra wants to answer: if everyone knows, why does no one in opposition say a word? He digs into the family trusts sitting inside Parliament itself, where 70 members declare 156 trusts between them and one Labor MP alone lists six, then reminds you that minimising your tax is a right, not a crime.

He wants to know what the government quietly paid to bring Michelin to Adelaide, where ten restaurants took a star and Magill Estate took two, and he makes the case that you cannot buy credibility at any price. There is the extraordinary story of how Ford sold its old engine line to China and helped create Chery, the brand now on track to outsell Ford in Britain. Plus the Bureau of Meteorology weather-stats row, the CFMEU questions hanging over the South Road build, and a rich run through this day in history, from Edison's light bulb to Eva Peron.

  • QF32 Hero Captain Richard de Crespigny Reacts to the Flydubai Cockpit Attack | Court of Public Opinion
    Oct 2 2026

Captain Richard de Crespigny AM, the pilot in command of Qantas Flight 32 when an Airbus A380 suffered an uncontrolled engine failure out of Singapore in 2010, joins Jeremy Cordeaux on this week's Court of Public Opinion to give his verdict on the shocking flydubai incident in which one pilot attacked another on the flight deck.

He walks through the chain of luck that saved everyone on board, from the cockpit door being opened to a passenger's headlock and a relief pilot pulling the 737 out of a high-speed dive, questions airline recruitment and screening, explains why the aircraft might never fly again, and talks about his new book on personal, corporate and national resilience.

This interview aired live on The Court of Public Opinion on Friday 2 October 2026.

The Court of Public Opinion with Jeremy Cordeaux AM streams live every Friday from the dining room table at jeremycordeaux.com and via Auscast Radio at auscastnetwork.com. Download the podcast anytime on your favourite podcast app.
