Happy new year! I love the prayer from A Course in Miracles that begins with "I do not know the thing I am". It is so FREEING to not know things! Especially when the things I know sound like this: I'm bad, you're bad, the world is bad and God can't be trusted. Being wrong has never felt so good. I call this the "I know nothing" prayer and in this episode, I'll tell you all about it and why "I know nothing" is the best news ever.

"God Says Yes to Me" is a poem by Kaylin Haught (1947-2018). In this episode I use this poem as a jumping off point to explore our relationship with God, and question the conventional view of God as judgmental and punishing. Spoiler alert: we got it all wrong.

I asked God if it was okay to be melodramatic
and she said yes
I asked her if it was okay to be short
and she said it sure is
I asked her if I could wear nail polish
or not wear nail polish
and she said honey
she calls me that sometimes
she said you can do just exactly

Helen Schucman, scribe of the Course, channeled a poem called "The Father's Love". In it, she tries to capture the breadth and depth of this unlimited divine love. In this episode I discuss a poem by Helen Schucman from her book, The Gifts of God. Helen channeled A Course in Miracles, and scholars believe she channeled this book of poems as well. This particular poem — "Continuity" — is about the continuity of the Christ light. Because our very nature is eternal holiness, we have a responsibility to uplift other people and give them expressions of love. This is the message at the heart of the Course, and is reflected beautifully in "Continuity" as well.
