The Exit the Matrix podcast is all about investigating what it is to life an abundant life, what gets in the way and once you find it how you keep in the flow. My guest Lisa Thomas says things that don't make sense are often inherited. Maybe it's not you.

Lisa is a TEDx speaker and the author of Mistakes into Money, and she works in energy healing and epigenetics. Her view is that the emotional experiences of the people who came before us can be passed down through what she calls cellular memory, and that some of the patterns we fight, a fear that makes no sense or a feeling that nothing is ever enough, may not have started with us.

I first heard Lisa speak at a retreat in early 2025, and it blew my mind. In this conversation, I ask the questions I have carried since: what a life of abundance really looks like, and what quietly holds it back.

Lisa tells the story of a business owner who made about 500,000 and still felt it was not enough, and the fear Lisa traced back to the Great Depression. She separates what we inherit from what we witness. Gifts and talents, she says, are inherited. Luck is not. She describes what "not enough" actually looks like in a driven person, why she says the subconscious thinks it is protecting you, and why she believes your mistakes can become your work.

Along the way: the simplest practice she shares for a hard emotion, and what it means to be the cycle breaker in your family.

Lisa shares her own views and experiences with energy healing and epigenetics. It is not medical advice.

If you have built a good life and still feel something is quietly holding you back, this conversation is for you.
