Ep 121

Shadow Slave: Weaver Played Snow, and the Volcano Pays in (Ch 2313-2333) Audiobook Episode 121

I threw a jade figurine into a volcano, and the volcano answered with a vision of the end of the world. Suddenly I stood on a shattered plain of ice where lesser gods lay broken, watching a dying giant kneel in golden blood. And then Weaver appeared, masked and silent, and I understood something that changed everything. This game of Ariel's was never played by the Jade Queen. The Demon of Dread played Ash. And Snow was played by Weaver himself. They were playing for truths, and Weaver won.

That meant every slain figure on this board was a coin I could spend. Sacrifice a Snow Beast to the volcano, receive a secret of the dead gods in return. Twelve Snow Abominations still stand on those peaks, and I have a lifetime of questions.

But the Snow Domain would not wait for me to get comfortable. At dawn, a swarm of crystal wasps descended on my volcano, their wings focusing sunlight into beams that turned rock to lava. I held the gate of the Ash Castle as a four-armed Shadowspawn, Slayer and Kai shooting over my shoulders, until I finally remembered the lesson arrogance had made me forget. The slain wasps still entered my Soul Sea. My army of shades grew with every kill.

The wasps fled when dawn burned out, and two volcanoes fell to Snow. Somewhere out there, a clockwork giant and an endless worm are waiting, and beyond them, the Snow Tyrant. I have until dusk to forge Kai a bow worthy of a god-killer.
