Let us now explore how the believer can maintain fellowship and, as a result, experience the fullness of joy. Our reference is 1 John 1:5-10.

Happy New Year. As people of faith, we have every right to express the customary New Year's greeting, even though we have just left behind what will undoubtedly go down in history as the most catastrophic year in Jamaica. This month, we will be sharing from the Epistle of John, particularly the first epistle.

This morning, let us consider our role in spreading and responding to the "Good News". As we come to the end of another calendar year, there is much for which we can give thanks to God, personally and nationally. What are you thanking God for today? What has God brought you through this year? How have you experienced the manifold blessings of God in your life? Be sure to take some time to give thanks to God from a grateful heart.

Many persons still do not understand the significance of the birth of Jesus. For them, Christmas is about shopping, gifts, the bright lights, family, food, parties, and pleasure. Or perhaps some vacation time from working all year round. But Christmas is all about Jesus, who He is, and the difference He has come to make in our lives and in our dark world.

Today, we continue our Advent reflections on the Birth of Jesus as recorded in Luke 2:1-14.

So far, in our Advent reflections from the Gospel of Luke, we have seen that Zachariah and Elizabeth were righteous in God's sight, as noted in Luke 1:6. That beautiful description from God challenges us to make the pursuit of righteousness before God a central part of our lives in this Advent season.

Today, we will consider some important lessons from the birth of Jesus foretold in Luke 1:26-38, as our reference text.

What does it mean to be "Righteous"? Is being "Righteous" important to you? What does "Righteousness" have to do with Advent?
