Saint Catherine of Genoa, born Caterina Fieschi Adorno in 1447, is a revered Italian Roman Catholic saint and mystic known for her compassionate work among the sick and impoverished. Coming from the noble Fieschi family, she dedicated her life and resources to caring for those afflicted, especially during the devastating plagues that struck Genoa in 1497 and 1501. She passed away in her beloved city in 1510. More than four decades later, in 1551, a book was published detailing her life and teachings, titled *Libro de la vita mirabile et dottrina santa de la Beata Caterinetta de Genoa*. This work includes her profound Dialogues on the Soul and the Body as well as the influential Treatise on Purgatory, often released as standalone texts. While there was once debate over her authorship, recent scholarship has affirmed that much of these writings can indeed be attributed to St. Catherine, even though they were finalized posthumously.
