  • Ep. 347: 2026 Tony Awards – New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal
    Aug 14 2026

It’s that time of the year when the boys get all spiffed up for the 2026 Tony Awards! No, not those Tony Awards. The ones where we hand out golden pentagrams to bands that wear their denim and leather proudly! This year we have special guest presenters from around the podcasting world. All bands and winners are selected for the coveted Tony Award by the man himself: our esteemed Chairman, Mr. Tony Griggs!

What’s this InObscuria thing? We’re a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the SHOULD BEs. Taking their cues from the music, fashion, and the attitude from 40+ years ago, these younger bands unashamedly bask in a new underground movement of hard rock and metal poised to make the kids rock and the old timers smile!

    Songs this week include:

    1. Stereo Nasty – “Summoning” from Summoning (2026)
    2. The Night Eternal – “Where The World Ends” from Cold Velvet (2026)
    3. Savetta – “Heat Of The Night” from Heat Of The Night (2026)
    4. Spell – “Lilac” from Wretched Heart (2026)
    5. MEGA COLOSSUS – “The Halls Of Mystikos” from Watch Out! (2026)
    6. Stainless – “Rough Justice” from Lady Of Lust & Steel (2026)
    7. Chariots Overdrive – “Taikonautic Alchemist” from The End Of Antiquity (2026)
    8. White Wizzard – “Pay The Fiddler” from Pay The Fiddler (2025)

  • Ep. 346: Acid Rock n' Proto Metal From The Crypt Vol. VIII
    Aug 7 2026

This week’s episode is brought to you by the colors: yellow, orange, and brown. The 8th volume of our deep dive into the trippy and groovy beginnings of the heavy stuff! Cut your lava lamp on, gaze at that blacklight poster through the haze of purple smoke, and join your favorite rock n’ roll grave robbers as they dig deep into the core of 70s Acid Rock n’ Proto Metal crypt to unearth some obscure bands that helped influence and mold what would become known as Heavy Metal.

What is it that we do here at InObscuria? Well, we exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This particular episode is planted firmly in the LOST category, as all of these recordings occurred between 1970 – 1973. As always, our hope is that we turn you on to something new in a genre and decade that you may have thought you already knew everything there was to know.

    Songs this week include:

    1. Zoot - “Hey Pinky” from Zoot Out (1971)
    2. Head Over Heels - “Road Runner” from Head Over Heels (1971)
    3. Fresh Blueberry Pancake - “Hassels” from Heavy (1970)
    4. Wicked Lady - “I’m A Freak” from Psychotic Overkill (1972)
    5. Irish Coffee - “Can’t Take It” from Irish Coffee (1971)
    6. Light Of Darkness - “Movin’ Along” from Light Of Darkness (1971)
    7. Ancient Grease - “Mother Grease The Cat” from Women And Children First (1970)
    8. Jane - “Here We Are” from Here We Are (1973)

  • Ep. 345: In The Shadow Of... METALLICA!
    Jul 31 2026

This week, a continuation of our series called “In The Shadow Of…”, where we compare bands to a well-established mainstream act. This is not about copycats, but about artists that have similar vibes, share a sonic soundscape, or whose songwriting and playing styles are sympatico. This is another band near and dear to both of you humble hosts. A band that sits atop the pedestal of all things “heavy”. A band that defined metal in the 80s and 90s while becoming somewhat polarizing in more recent years; the iconic METALLICA! Join us as we discover other bands who were influenced and inspired by this hella great band.

What’s this InObscuria thing? We’re a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This is not a statement about bands trying to copy one another, but more that they have a shared sound and vision. It’s been said that there is no originality left in rock n’ roll and also been stated that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. As always, we hope we turn you onto something new!

    Songs this week include:

    1. Trivium – “Unrepentant” from The Crusade (2006)
    2. Bloodstain – “Black Swan” from I Am Death - EP(2024)
    3. Thrasherwolf – “Shameless Loser” from Inside The Sickened Mind (2024)
    4. Evile – “Head Of The Demon” from Skull (2013)
    5. Machine Head – “Slanderous” from The Blackening (2007)
    6. Tantara – “Human Mutation” from Based On Evil (2012)
    7. ThrashWall – “War Outside The Wall” from ThrashWall(2020)
