In this episode, I discuss a comment on my YouTube Short, “Re-Relearning How To Skate at 56,” that got me thinking about the assumptions we make about aging and what we believe we’re capable of doing as we get older.
Why do we assume certain activities are too risky or inappropriate for someone simply because of their age? How much of our declining athleticism is due to the physical changes of aging, and how much is influenced by our choices, priorities, and beliefs?
Whether you’ve stopped doing the things you love because life got busy or you’re still active but feel too old to try something new, this conversation is about questioning those limitations and reconsidering what’s possible.
You don’t have to be a competitive athlete, look like a fitness model, or perform incredible physical feats to be athletic. You just have to stop assuming that the best of your athletic life is behind you.
