The Scriptures teach us to respect those who are older and this is something our culture has lost sight of both in that we are not taught to respect older people when we are little, and old people who are degenerates make it hard to respect them. But for believers we know what God wants from us and respecting our elders is one of them. But the thing that we really miss is seeking the wisdom from these older people who have been through the grind. We could learn a lot from them.

The life of Peter is a good model for our understanding of what it takes to be a witness. Peter's own confidence became a real stumbling block in his relationship with Jesus. But through his journey, he found what it takes to be an effective witness for Jesus.

Every child of God is a leader in something. We are not empowered by the Holy Spirit to simply do nothing. We act when He tells us to. We go where He tells us to go and we do what He tells us to do. But godly leadership and worldly leadership have differences and as believers, understanding we are leaders in His Kingdom here and now show prompt us to seek wisdom from Him to lead.

Continuing through Peter's first letter and pursuing a deeper knowledge of God, chapter 2 addresses living our lives as "living stones" in the structure of the Kingdom of God reminding us that we are no longer people without spiritual direction so we must live in accordance with the will of God. Submitting to the governing authorities is part of God's will for the child of God.

Lust is something that effects a lot of people. It's craving that which we know we should not have and it's consequences can be devastating. We have an example of Eve and her bout with lust and the consequences but we also have a path toward victory for those who are serious about Jesus.
