    Alluri Sitarama Raju was born into a Telugu family as Alluri Rama Raju on 4th July 1897, he prefixed the name "Sita" to his name in memory of a girl whom he loved during his youth and whose untimely demise at a young age, left him heartbroken. He became a sanyasi at the age of 18 and grew to become a charismatic leader of the downtrodden tribal people in the 20th century colonial India. Rise in discontent towards the British colonial rule in the backdrop of the non-cooperation movement (1920–1922) led Alluri Sitarama Raju to rebel against the British. Mustering combined forces of tribals, he engaged in guerrilla warfare against the British forces. He was given the title "Manyam Veerudu" by the local people for his exploits.

    Born at the Suvarnadurg fort in Ratnagiri district in 1669, Kanhoji Angre rose to the ranks of “Sarkhel’ meaning the commander in chief of the Maratha Navy due to his dare devil feats of attacking and capturing British, Mughal and the Portuguese ships and collecting taxes from them. The British and the Portuguese joined hands to defeat Kanhoji and attacked him with their advanced “Man of war” class ships, but was no match to Kanhoji’s skill, intelligence and strategies. He remained unbeatable throughout his life. Even today he is popularly remembered as “Samudra ke Shivaji”.

  • Veer Savarkar - Part 02 EP-30

    Veer Savarkar staged an attempt to escape from the steamship SS Morea and seek asylum in France while the ship was docked in the port of Marseilles. He was sentenced to Kaala Pani or cellular jail, where he faced inhuman British atrocities. After his release from the cellular jail in 1921, Veer Savarkar developed the Hindu nationalist political ideology of Hindutva while confined at Ratnagiri jail in 1922. He dedicated rest of his life for social reforms and welfare of the people who were looked down upon post his release from the Ratnagiri jail.
