Alex, by pure happenstance, is following up our last monthly episode about John Cleese with John Cleese's father's favorite book. What John Cleese boasted as one of the funniest book ever written. That's right. We are reading Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome. Now, I don't know if this is one of the funniest books ever written, but it does have its highs and lows. Be sure to listen carefully as the brothers break down their thoughts and reactions to this timeless classic, and oldest book read for this season.

Next month, Joe has picked a behemoth of a book to try and get through. By far, the longest of the season. Maybe. He has picked The Terror by Dan Simmons. It is the book that got Joe into polar exploration stories. And there is even an abdominal snowman for our heroes to contend with in this historical fiction horror novel. So be sure to get an early start on it, as it is a long one.

Just as a reminder, we post twice monthly. On the 5th we post our book of the month. And on the 20th we will provide you lovely listeners with a bonus episode. Please make sure to subscribe so that you never miss an episode. And please be active listeners and comment and rate on how you think we are doing. All the details below.

Please help us grow this podcast. The more listeners we get the more we can do. While Alex and Joe love talking books it is nice to know we aren't the only two out there blathering into the universe.

Hello everyone. Today Alex had to pony up on Joe's challenge to get all of you fabulous listeners to read his Medium book reviews. And the winner by a long shot was Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman. As it is the first book to reach over 100 reads out of all Joe's book review articles, the brothers take a much deeper dive into the book and do a detailed plot summary and talk about their favorite parts of the story.

Remember, the competition is still going. Any other Medium book reviews the brothers have written in their respective profiles (links will be below) that get over 100 reads, the brothers will do more bonus episodes. Already, Alex owes Joe a second book, Complicity by Iain Banks. And a third book, The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett, is getting close. Alex is still working on growing his audience, and has a way to go...

Next month is an Alex pick. He has chosen the famous comedy, Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome. It is a short read, and supposedly one of the funniest books that John Cleese has ever read. And no, Alex did not pick this book because of him. Just a happy accident (If you know what I mean). So make sure to read along and hopefully laugh as hard as we did in this last book.

Just as a reminder, we post twice monthly. On the 5th we post our book of the month. And on the 20th we will provide you lovely listeners with a bonus episode. Alex has gone back to the Middle School literature to try to find that magic that young readers are so lucky to have when first discovering the wonders of reading. In the book The Lost Track of Time by Paige Britt, he believes he has found it. Listen in to find out what Joe thinks and how the brothers break down the writing in their infamous uneducated scrutiny.

This is another little known author that deserves more attention, with illustrations that will impress the hardest critic. Sadly, the book is a hard one to find. Please help this author out and find yourself a copy, or ask your local library to find it for you. It will be worth the effort, and the author will undoubtedly appreciate it.

In this bonus episode, Alex and Becky discuss the book A Wok to Remember by S.Q. Addams. It is one of Alex's smut books that he apparently loves to read so much. But, Alex and Becky had a blast discussing it and breaking down its "finer points?"

Joe then stops in briefly, and Alex makes a huge announcement. Joe's reaction says it all...

Next month, Alex is bringing us back to YA and Middle School level reading with the hard to find novel, The Lost Track of Time by Paige Britt. So make sure you give yourself plenty of time to track down a copy of this book. Both brothers had quite the adventure of their own in finding copies to read.

Joe and Becky get down in discussing what not to do when hiking big mountains in winter. The Last Traverse by Ty Gagne is a true account of two men that attempted to traverse Franconia Notch in winter and get caught in a nasty storm. It is a moving story told in the words of the one survivor, the rescuers, and friends and family that knew the two men.

Next month, Joe has picked the classic Science Fiction book, Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov. This book is the first full novel of the Robot books. We recommend that you check it out with us to see what all the fuss is about. That episode will be dropping on the 5th July.
