As we close out our Mothers & Spiritual Mothers series, we turn to one of the most complex and deeply human stories in Scripture—Rachel.
Loved deeply yet burdened with longing, Rachel’s journey is marked by comparison, waiting, heartbreak, and ultimately, God’s faithfulness. From shepherding in Haran to becoming the beloved wife of Jacob, her story unfolds within a family marked by tension, rivalry, and divided affection. While her sister Leah bore children, Rachel wrestled with infertility—crying out in desperation, navigating seasons of waiting, and even striving in her own strength before fully seeing God move.
But God didn’t forget her.
In His perfect timing, Rachel gives birth to Joseph—a son whose life would go on to preserve nations. And yet, her story doesn’t end in celebration alone. In a powerful and sobering moment, Rachel dies giving birth to her second son, Benjamin, on the road to Bethlehem—tying her legacy to both sorrow and promise.
In this episode, we explore:
✨ The tension of being loved yet still longing
✨ Family division and the pain of comparison
✨ What waiting seasons can produce in us
✨ The difference between striving and surrender
✨ How God’s timing fulfills purpose beyond what we can see
Rachel’s life reminds us that God is present in the tension—in the waiting, the heartbreak, and the unanswered prayers. Because when He moves, it’s not just personal—it’s generational.
