  • Catching Up With Sam & Dave
    Dec 30 2025

This episode is Part 1 of our Murder on the Orient Express two-parter, and we don’t actually review the movie yet. 😅

First, Sam and Dave catch up on everything that’s happened since the last recording:

    • Dave’s California trip that started with a nice restaurant and immediately turned into five days of flu
    • Hitting Disney while still sick, getting the inside scoop from a ride engineer, and barely surviving Guardians / Tower of Terror
    • Sam’s perfectly timed “last day of summer” Six Flags trip, where Samantha goes on TEN roller coasters and literally passes out on Medusa
    • The first-year-of-marriage monthly gift tradition: ruined surprises, shared Amazon accounts, and custom stickers that don’t quite fit the vibe
    • Capsule wardrobes, thrift-shop gift fails, and why buying women’s clothes is a psychological game
    • A passionate side quest on Stanley vs BrüMate and leak-proof cup loyalty

At the end, they set the stage for Part 2, where the next episode will finally be their full review of the 2017 Murder on the Orient Express.

    Sep 8 2025

All aboard for part two of our Murder on the Orient Express series! 🚂 Sam and Dave dive into Sidney Lumet’s (or "Plumet", depending on how Sam is pronouncing it that day) 1974 star-studded adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic mystery. 🔥 In this episode we cover:

    • 🎭 The legendary ensemble cast: Sean Connery, Lauren Bacall, Vanessa Redgrave, Ingrid Bergman & more
    • 🕵️‍♂️ Albert Finney’s Poirot — brilliant or over-the-top?
    • 🎬 Sidney Lumet’s direction and the behind-the-scenes strategy for wrangling an all-star lineup
    • 🎶 That chilling score and unforgettable newspaper montage opening
    • 📚 How faithful the adaptation is to Christie’s novel (and what changes stood out)
    • 🤔 Does the famous twist ending still shock modern audiences?
