RJ Nikunj: Welcome to another exciting episode of "Decrypting Extraordinary Lives." I'm your host, RJ Nikunj, and today we have an incredible guest joining us. She's a three-time Guinness World Record holder and an IITian. Please put your hands together for the extraordinary Nilanshi Patel! Welcome, Nilanshi!
Nilanshi Patel: Thank you, RJ Nikunj. It's a pleasure to be here with you today.
RJ Nikunj: Nilanshi, you have achieved something truly remarkable by holding not just one, but three Guinness World Records. Can you share with our listeners what those records are and what inspired you to pursue them?
Nilanshi Patel: Absolutely, RJ Nikunj. The three records I hold are for the Longest Hair on a Teenager, Longest Hair on a Teenager (female), and Longest Hair on a Living Teenager. My hair measures a stunning 190 centimeters (6 feet 2.8 inches) long. I started growing my hair when I was six years old and haven't cut it since. Initially, it was just a fun experiment, but as my hair grew longer, I realized it could become something extraordinary.
RJ Nikunj: That's truly amazing, Nilanshi. Growing and maintaining such long hair requires a lot of dedication and care. Could you tell us more about the challenges and the daily routine you follow to keep your hair healthy and beautiful?
Nilanshi Patel: Certainly, RJ Nikunj. Maintaining my hair has become a part of my daily life. I spend around 30 minutes each day washing my hair, and I follow it up with oiling and combing. I use a special coconut-based hair oil and a wide-toothed comb to prevent breakage. Additionally, I make sure to keep my hair covered and protected when I'm outside or engaging in physical activities. It's essential to avoid damage and maintain its length and strength.
RJ Nikunj: It's fascinating how much effort goes into caring for your hair, Nilanshi. Now, apart from being a Guinness World Record holder, you're also an IITian, which is quite an impressive accomplishment. Could you share with us a bit about your journey at IIT and how you managed to balance your studies with your extraordinary hair?
Nilanshi Patel: Thank you, RJ Nikunj. Pursuing my engineering degree at IIT has been an incredible experience. Balancing my studies and my hair has been a challenge at times, but I've always had a supportive environment. I make sure to manage my time efficiently, setting aside specific periods for studying and focusing on academics. Having a routine helps me stay disciplined and ensures that I can dedicate time to my studies while also taking care of my hair.
RJ Nikunj: That's commendable, Nilanshi. Now, looking ahead, what are your future aspirations and goals, both in terms of your education and your remarkable hair?
Nilanshi Patel: In terms of education, I'm currently focused on completing my engineering degree and exploring various career opportunities. I have a keen interest in technology and innovation, and I hope to utilize my skills to make a positive impact in the world. As for my hair, I plan to continue growing it and enjoy the journey. However, I do understand that it may not be practical to maintain it at such extreme lengths forever. So, at some point, I might consider donating my hair to contribute to a noble cause like making wigs for cancer patients.
RJ Nikunj: That's a wonderful thought, Nilanshi. Giving back to society is truly inspiring. Before we wrap up, do you have any advice or words of encouragement for our listeners who
