In the second episode we continue to investigate how other creatives are managing social media as part of their tool kit for connecting with audiences on digital platforms. Making Connections

with singer songwriter Chris Cleverley 

In this first full episode, we chat with Chris Cleverley about his evolving relationship with social media as a musician. From periods of coming away from social platforms altogether, to viewing his online content as an opportunity to be creative in a unique way, Chris has become passionate about using social media to encourage authentic connections where it is all to easy to be side-tracked by the perceived engagement of 'likes' and view counts. 

He takes us through some of the ways in which he uses social media to make meaningful connections with fans, making sure his voice as an artist is heard in a direct way by personally managing his own social media presence.

The pandemic changed the way musicians interact with their audience, forcing everything online. As things have opened back up, it has become clear that we are relying more and more on social media as a means of connecting with audiences. Without doubt it is a powerful tool for making connections, allowing artists to share personal and intimate insights into previously hidden aspects of their lives, and to reach audiences globally. However in a perpetually switched on world artists are increasingly feeling the pressure to create new content, and the potential for distraction and doom scrolling is never far away. Finding a balance between artistic creativity and managing this 24 hour online world is becoming increasingly challenging for many.
