About this listen

Local Runners Podcast is to celebrate and shine a light on running talent in the North West of England and beyond. We have previous guests from Gold Medal Olympians like Georgia Taylor-Brown, 1500m Gold winner Jake Wightman, to self proclaimed "mid-pack runners" and those who have just finished a couch to 5k. We want to ensure that runners of all abilities are catered for and have a chance to share their stories.Local Runners Podcast Running & Jogging

  • Episode 122 - Inky Steve | Sale Dragons | Shoe Talk | Not Chasing Times
    Feb 18 2026

Dave, Cal, Sean & Katie speak with a Sale Dragon who we now know the real name of. Inky Steve has PBs of 19:59 5km, 42:43 10km, 1:33:35 half marathon, 3:45:15 marathon. Steve talks about how he got into running, how it compares to breaking that sub 20min (but he had issues at the Tameside 5k). He is a very popular runner and he is one who is there to help people through thick and thin. Steve tells us about how joining Sale Dragons was perfect for his running and his love for Twisted Running. He also talks about his podcast called Borderland Trail and Ultra Podcast, one for you to listen to after you’ve finished this episode.

This episode is in collaboration with @twistedrunning , Running with Purpose, Not Perfection.

At Twisted Running, we believe every runner deserves to feel seen. The brand started because they were tired of running gear that only spoke to the fastest, leanest, most elite athletes. Twisted is built for the middle of the pack. The early risers and late-night joggers. The comeback stories. The ones who run for their minds, not their medals. With running apparel made for movement, which is technical, breathable, and tough enough to handle whatever your run throws at you. But more than just kit, Twisted is a mindset: community over competition. We celebrate every effort, every journey, every mile — no matter the pace.

  • Episode 121 - Long Run Debate | Project 3 | Get To Know James & Clare
    Feb 11 2026

Dave, Sean, Cal & Katie have a chat with James Hartshorne & Clare Finch from ECH who are part of the new ambassador team. Tameside 5k is selling out, and fast (just like the course). We have race reviews of Dewsbury 10k and the final MACCL race. We have a chat about what classes a long run as a long run and Cal gives the best answer he has ever given on the pod. Katie is getting into marathon training with a big update, Sean is picking up his long runs (or are they), Cal does a 20 miler from hell, and Dave has one thing on his mind… the National!
