  • राजस्थान के एक छोटे से गाँव में मिट्टी के बर्तन बनाने वाले के घर तीसरी बेटी का जन्म हुआ। पिता सुमेर ने अपने भाग्य को फिर दुर्भाग्य समझकर कोसा, लेकिन अपनी दो बेटियों को खो चुकी माँ, मालती उस नन्ही सी जान को देख कर ममता से भर उठी।

    बड़े दुलार से उसका नाम रखा ‘नीरजा’।

    ‘नीरजा’ मानो सचमुच कीचड़ में कमल खिला हो। नीरजा यानी हमारी नीरू की बचपन से बस एक ही ज़िद थी, उसे स्कूल जाना था।

    खिलौने से खेलने की उम्र में नीरजा ने देखा एक बड़ा सपना, नीली बत्ती वाली गाड़ी पाने का सपना। नीरजा की ज़िंदगी मुश्किल हालात और समाज की रूढ़िवादी बेड़ियों में जकड़ी थी, लेकिन उसका जुनून इन सबसे बड़ा था। एक ख्वाब से हकीकत की ओर जाने वाले इस कठिन रास्ते पर उसका सहारा बनी उसकी माँ, हिम्मत बनी उसकी टीचर और उसके हौसलों को पंख दिया, उसके प्यार ने। इस सबके साथ अपनी परिस्थितियों से लगातार जूझती और जीतती नीरजा अपने लक्ष्य की ओर एक लंबा सफ़र तय करती रही और पूरा कर दिखाया वो सपना,

    जो इस देश में सबसे ज्यादा आँखें देखती हैं...

    पा लिया वो लक्ष्य, जो इस देश का सबसे कठिन लक्ष्य है....

    आई.ए.एस. बनना ! ये कहानी है, तूफ़ान से लड़ने वाले एक दीये की।

    ये कहानी है नीरू के मैडम आईएएस नीरजा मण्डल बनने की।

    Paresksha ke baad Neeru agli class ka soch rahi thi tabhi Sumer ne faisla suna diya ki voh ab aage nahi padhegi. Ek din mandir se lautate wakt kisi ne Neeru pe hamla kar diya.
