About this listen
The Magnetic Communication Podcast helps you to quickly improve your communication skills in your professional and personal relationships. When it comes to communication, we all tend to think we’re pretty good at it. But most of us have not been trained. We can speak with someone every day and still communicate badly. Anyone married?! Every week, listeners get simple communication tips including body language cues, listening tools, conflict resolution, self-talk and workplace communication training to use right away to connect better. I’m Sandy Gerber, your host. I’m a Certified Communication Trainer, Keynote Speaker, Best-Selling Author, and TEDx Speaker. As a single mom, I’ve owned three successful businesses, grew my agency from my bedroom to a Top 100 Fastest Growing Company with magnetic communication, and after two failed marriages (and 20 years of communication training), married my prince charming and we’ve been happy for 11 years. I also count winning a limbo contest at 14 as one of my greatest achievements. Real, helpful, and engaging, this show helps people to feel more confident and successful in their communication. • Why You Keep Replaying That Conversation (and How to Stop)
    Nov 3 2026

Why do you keep replaying conversations in your head, the one that shows up in the shower or at two in the morning? Communication coach and emotional intelligence trainer Sandy Gerber calls these lingering conversations, and in this episode she shows listeners how to finally put them down.

A lingering conversation is the one that ended but never actually finished. It might be the one nobody went back to, the one hiding underneath the same fight a couple keeps having, or the one someone has been rehearsing in the car for years. Sandy explains why the brain hangs on to these conversations and why replaying them never changes the ending.

She shares the story of a client who thought she'd wrecked a friendship over holiday plans, and the conversation Sandy finally had with her own mom after carrying it for years. Then she walks listeners through her Full Circle Conversation tool using a real example, bringing emotional intelligence and self-awareness into the moment a conversation goes sideways.

Sandy also turns to the lingering conversations worth keeping, the ones where your words inspire someone and stay with them for months, and shares the voice note from a colleague that reminded her how powerful that can be.

Listeners will come away knowing how to stop the replay, how to tell whether a conversation needs repairing or releasing, how to start a hard conversation without making it worse, and how to let someone know the difference their words made. The result is more peace of mind, fewer repeat fights, stronger communication skills, and relationships that feel lighter.

  • Stop Negative Self-Talk When the Voice in Your Head Gets Mean
    Oct 27 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

How to stop negative self-talk is easy to teach and much harder to do when you're the one sitting on the couch, run down and believing every word your inner critic says.

In Episode 116 of the Magnetic Communication Podcast, communication coach and emotional intelligence trainer Sandy Gerber shares what happened after a run of powerful events was followed by the flu and a lupus flare-up. As her body recovered, her mind went somewhere dark, and the voice in her head started telling her she was behind, she wasn't helping enough people, and she had no business teaching anyone.

So Sandy turned one of her own tools, the Honest Sandwich, on herself. She walks you through the list of feelings she wrote down, the surprising difference between what she thought she needed and what she needed emotionally, and the options she's choosing from to move forward.

You'll leave with three questions to ask yourself the next time your inner voice gets mean, plus one simple test that changes how you talk to yourself.

If you've ever felt like your worth disappears the moment you stop doing, this one is for you.

  • Emotional Outsourcing: Why You’re Telling Everyone But Your Partner
    Oct 20 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Emotional outsourcing is one of the biggest relationship trends of 2026, and there's a good chance you're doing it without realizing it.

Have you ever vented to your best friend, your group chat or even a chatbot about something your partner did, and realized later that the one person you never told was your partner? In this episode, Sandy Gerber explains why so many of us share our feelings with everyone except the person they're about, and how that quietly leads to drift.

Sandy shares the story of her daughter's friend, who spent six months in a situationship, talking through every feeling with friends and co-workers but never with the person it was really about. She also brings in new research, including a Stanford study published in Science that found AI chatbots affirm people far more than humans do, and that just one flattering chat made people less willing to repair things with the person they were in conflict with.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • What emotional outsourcing is and why it's trending
    • How situationships make it even harder to say how you feel
    • How emotional outsourcing leads to drift
    • Why you should never open with "We need to talk"
    • Difficult conversation starters you can use this week
    • The Honest Sandwich, a simple tool for getting clarity in a situationship
    • How emotional outsourcing shows up at work, and starters for talking to your boss or a co-worker directly

In a situationship? Listen to Episode 66 next for more tools on dating and texting with confidence.
