  • Ep. 193 Mom Rage: The Invisible Load That Keeps Mom on Empty
    Oct 14 2026

Have you ever snapped over something small and wondered, “Why am I so angry?!” Maybe it wasn’t really about the spilled milk or the endless questions. Maybe it was everything you’d been carrying long before that moment.

In this episode of Mama Needs A Moment, we’re joined by HER+ Experts to unpack the invisible load of motherhood and how the constant mental juggling of managing a household, caring for children, keeping track of everyone’s needs, and holding everything together can leave moms feeling completely depleted.

We explore how sleep deprivation, hormones, sensory overload, parenting neurodivergent children, past trauma, and unmet needs can contribute to mom rage. We also discuss the shame that often follows when we react in ways we wish we hadn’t, and why those moments don’t automatically make us bad moms.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • Why the mental load fuels overwhelm: How the constant planning, remembering, and managing can push moms toward their breaking point.

    • What’s happening beneath the anger: How biological, emotional, and environmental stressors influence our reactions.

    • How to begin lightening the load: Practical ways to recognize triggers, share responsibilities, and reduce the buildup before you hit your limit.

Because sometimes, the question isn’t “How can I be a more patient mom?” It’s “Why am I carrying so much in the first place?”

🎧 Tune in for an honest, compassionate conversation about what moms carry, why it matters, and what can help.

And stay tuned for our next episode, where we explore how to make self-care possible without turning it into another item on Mom’s to-do list.

  • Ep. 191 Your Body May Be Running on Empty: Could Depletion Be Fueling Mom Rage?
    Oct 7 2026

Ever notice how the smallest thing can feel like the final straw when you’re exhausted, hungry, overstimulated, or running on caffeine?

Before we blame ourselves for being “too impatient” or “too emotional,” it’s worth asking a different question: What if your body simply doesn’t have much left to give?

In this HER+ Roundtable, we’re digging into the very real physiological factors that can affect a mom’s ability to handle stress and frustration — from hunger, under-fueling, dehydration, poor sleep, and caffeine to hormonal fluctuations, breastfeeding, perimenopause, trauma, and lack of daylight.

We’ll also talk about something that doesn’t get nearly enough attention: you can’t always separate a mom’s physical well-being from the environment she’s living in. Food insecurity, housing instability, limited access to health care, financial stress, trauma, and the invisible pressure to put everyone else’s needs first can all affect how much capacity a mom has left at the end of the day.

And this isn’t about adding another list of things moms “should” be doing. It’s about understanding what may be happening underneath the reaction — and finding realistic ways to support your body without shame, perfectionism, or expensive wellness advice.

    • How physiological depletion can affect your stress threshold - and why hunger, dehydration, sleep loss, caffeine, and under-fueling can make everyday frustrations feel much bigger.

    • How hormones and life stages can influence emotional resilience, including what can happen during perimenopause and breastfeeding.

    • Why mom rage isn’t always an individual problem to “fix” - and how access to food, health care, stable housing, support, and other resources can shape a mother’s capacity to cope.

Because sometimes the question isn’t, “Why am I reacting like this?”

It’s “What has my body been trying to tell me all day?”

  • Ep. 191 Why Does Mom Rage Happen in the First Place?
    Sep 30 2026

Have you ever completely lost it over something that, five minutes later, seemed so small?

The spilled drink. The repeated question. The shoes left in the middle of the floor. The sound of someone chewing when you’re already hanging by a thread.

So why can that tiny moment trigger such a BIG reaction?

In this HER+ Roundtable, we’re digging beneath the surface of mom rage and looking at what may actually be happening when your reaction feels bigger than the moment itself. Rage can be the visible “tip of the iceberg,” with exhaustion, sensory overload, unmet needs, hormones, hunger, resentment, lack of support, the invisible load, and chronic stress all contributing to how much capacity a mom has left.

We’ll talk about what happens when the nervous system is pushed into fight-or-flight, why even the parenting strategies you know you want to use can suddenly feel impossible to access, and how recognizing your body’s signals earlier can help you understand what you actually need.

Most importantly, this conversation moves away from shame and toward curiosity: What is your rage trying to tell you?

    You’ll learn:

    • Why mom rage can feel disproportionate to the situation that triggered it

    • How stress, sensory overload, hormones, hunger, exhaustion, and the invisible load can shrink your capacity

    • How recognizing your nervous-system state and basic needs may help you catch escalation earlier

And this is just the beginning. In the next episode, we’ll take a closer look at what can happen in the body when moms aren't getting enough nourishment, sleep, rest, and other basic needs.
