  • The Case Everyone Wanted to Throw Away | The Margin You Can't Bill For
    Jul 13 2026

There was a bar on my bench at five in the morning that three people had already given up on. The note said: take it all out, start over.

Nobody asked if there was another way. Because for them, there wasn't. You can't offer a path you've never walked.

This one goes back to where I started, removable prosthetics, the attachment era, the toolbox most of the trade quietly stopped filling. Not as nostalgia. As the reason I could look at a case everyone else saw one way and hand the doctor three.

Good, better, best. What that actually sounds like on the phone. Why the default is the enemy. And why the most valuable thing you'll do all week is the thing that never shows up on the invoice.

Last episode I told you the decision couldn't be downloaded. This is what the decision looks like in the room.

Protect your margins. Protect your meaning.

Topics: implant overdentures, bar attachments, Hader, Dolder, Locator, spark erosion, telescopic crowns, full arch implant prosthetics, All-on-X alternatives, treatment planning, dental laboratory, removable prosthetics

  • The Year I Tried to Download Myself
    Jun 29 2026

For twenty episodes I told you judgment can't be downloaded. Then I spent a year quietly trying to download mine.

This is the one I almost didn't record. There's no product here and nothing for sale. Just the truth about what I've been building in the dark before everybody gets to work, and why it scared me badly enough that I hid it behind a small word.

It's about what happens to everything in your hands when you're gone. The difference between the part of you a machine can hold and the part that was never going to copy. And an old man trying to flip the math so the sharpest hours go to the beautiful work instead of the drudgery.

I'm still not sure whether I built a gift or something I won't be able to control. Ask me in a year.

Protect your margins. Protect your meaning.

  • Not Done
    Jun 16 2026

Forty-three years at the bench, and a full arch still stops me. Early one morning the, lab was quiet, I caught myself holding one up to the light. Nobody watching. Nobody about to grade it. The patient will never know my name. And I stood there anyway, turning it, looking at the way the value broke across the facial.

    This one's a solo, and it's honest.

I talk about the newcomers who never touched a wax-up and went straight to a screen, and why that got under my skin more than I wanted to admit. I followed the resentment all the way down. It wasn't really about them. It was a question I didn't want to say out loud. Am I still necessary.

I'm not going to tie that off neatly tonight. But I'll tell you where I landed, and why I think the thing I spent four decades earning is worth more given away than guarded.

Protect your margins. Protect your meaning.
