It’s been a few years since we have had a snowstorm measuring over a foot. We have been watching the weather report as we followed it across the country. It seems as though people spend a good part of their lives waiting for big ones, both positive and negative. For me, I have learned to trust that whatever is in the future, my team ls there to assist me through.

Several times a day I find myself with a smile on my face caused by something that crossed my mind. It could be from the past, the present, or a thought of someone else. When we first arrived in the valley, we used to drive a road that gave us a breathtaking view of the majestic mountains to the west. We built our home where we had that view. Now, sixty years later, the majestic mountains are still there, even though the valley has changed considerably. It is good to have stability in our hearts, regardless of how our world changes.

With the recent cold weather our thoughts focused on the memory of the joy of eating fresh baked bread. I used to make it before I became allergic to gluten. Now that there is gluten free flour, it was time to try again. The results were not the same. We find many things different from what we remember. We have changed. It is time to make updates.

Sometimes people who are not used to being in the spotlight are noticed by others for something either positive or negative. The new coating of white snow has freshened up the landscape. It reminds me of a term called “whitewashing”, when white paint is used to cover up surface flaws to create a fresh clean feeling. People often try to whitewash their lives so other people won’t discover their flaws. Perfection comes from positive heart-based intentions.
