About this listen

Mighty Champions: Action Figure Radio is a weekly podcast for action figure collectors who never really stopped playing. They just got more shelves.

Hosted by lifelong collectors Jon Sargent and Christian McGahan, the show covers action figures and collectibles from the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and today, with equal love for vintage classics and modern lines. From WWE, Marvel Legends, and DC Universe Classics to TMNT, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, He-Man, and beyond, nothing is off the table if it belongs in the toy aisle conversation.

Each episode blends nostalgia, current hobby news, and real collector perspective. The hosts break down new reveals, recent pickups, and major moments in toy history, while also getting into group toy hunts, live drafts, secondary-market chaos, Whatnot sales, convention stories, and the way collecting actually fits into adult life.

This isn’t an instruction manual or a hype machine. It’s a hangout for collectors who’ve been doing this long enough to have opinions, stories, wins, losses, and shelves that tell a story. Sometimes the show goes deep on a single era or toy line. Sometimes it turns into a creative exercise about how and why we connect with these figures in the first place.

If you collect loose, mint on card, or somewhere in between—and if you enjoy talking toys with people who genuinely love the hobby—this is your spot.

New episodes every week.

  • Action Figure Fight Federation & Mattel DC Toy Hit Lists
    Feb 2 2026

Episode 32 kicks off with the debut of Action Figure Fight Federation, our new PPV-style segment where action figures from different universes collide in dream matchups decided by interest, nostalgia, accessories, and pure playground logic. We break down hypothetical show-stealers like He-Man vs Lion-O, Jurassic Park’s Electronic T-Rex vs Trendmasters 1998 Godzilla, Cactus Jack vs Casey Jones, and other cross-universe clashes where the figures, their gear, and their shelf presence matter just as much as the characters themselves.

From there, we dive into the toy news of the week, including the latest Masters of the Universe movie toy reveals and a deep look at Mattel’s new DC announcements, discussing what hits, what misses, and what has collectors paying attention.

We close the episode by laying out our DC collecting plans for the upcoming adult-collector Mattel DC line. From absolute heavy hitters like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Joker, Darkseid, and Lex Luthor, to must-have supporting players and villains, we go through every character we intend to chase when these figures finally hit shelves.

Big fights, big news, and big DC ambitions. This one sets the table for what Mighty Champions is building next.

  • Chasing Lord of the Rings & Terminator 2 + A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Quiz
    Jan 26 2026

Episode 31 of Mighty Champions: Action Figure Radio opens in unexpected territory, with Christian debuting a piece of Sopranos fan fiction and the hosts seriously pondering what a Sopranos action figure line might look like. That quickly turns into a group counseling session, as Jon confronts a full-blown collecting crisis that has him questioning priorities, shelf space, and whether “retirement” from collecting is even possible.

From there, the show moves into On Deck Collection, where both hosts lock in their next collecting targets. Christian sets his sights on assembling a Toy Biz Lord of the Rings collection, while Jon zeroes in on completing Kenner Terminator 2 Series 1, including the elusive Bio-Flesh Regenerator.

The episode then hits Action Figure News of the Week, with discussion around the newly released Masters of the Universe movie trailer and fresh reveals, including MAFEX Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent.

To close things out, Jon and Christian put their turtle knowledge to the test with an OG Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles quiz, digging deep into vintage TMNT history and seeing how much still holds up under pressure.

It’s an episode full of humor, honesty, nostalgia, and collector reality—equal parts therapy session, toy talk, and trivia night.

  • What If Your Entire Collection Disappeared?!
    Jan 19 2026

In Episode 30 of Mighty Champions: Action Figure Radio, Jon and Christian recap their weekend at Retromania, a collectibles convention in the San Antonio, Texas area. They break down the highs and lows of the show, the figures they hunted down, the ones that got away, and the familiar frustrations that come with convention floors, pricing, and timing.

From there, the episode shifts into a full rundown of the action figure news of the week, including updates and discussion around McFarlane Toys, Boss Fight Studios’ Legends of Lucha Libre, the latest WWE Elite releases, and the newly revealed Mondo Beavis & Butt-Head figures.

The main segment asks a nightmare scenario every collector has considered at least once: What if your entire collection disappeared overnight? With real-world prices, current budgets, and today’s market in mind, Jon and Christian walk through exactly what they would buy first, what lines they’d prioritize, and how their collecting philosophy changes when starting over from scratch.

Vintage and modern collide, budgets get real, and collecting habits are put under the microscope in an episode built around experience, perspective, and the reality of collecting then and now.
