We learned from artist Autumn Lundberg is to not be afraid of opportunity. "Fortune favors the bold," she says. Autumn is the artist in residence at Ascent MKE, commonly known as the "Timber Tower," because of its use of sustainably sourced timber in it's construction. There she uses the stunning 25th floor community room as her workshop and as a gallery for larger pieces.

  • Charlotte Partridge & Miriam Frink: The Matriarchs of Milwaukee Modernism

Charlotte Partridge and Miriam Frink have been called the “matriarchs of Milwaukee modernism.” The two visionaries founded the Layton School of Art, which would eventually become the spiritual predecessor of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. Their bold ideas left an indelible mark on the city’s creative landscape — even after the women were coerced to step away from the very institution they built. Their legacy, however, proved far more resilient than the forces that tried to diminish it.

🩸 Blood is Sweet – An Original Song by Bear in the Forest (Baron the Forest)

“Blood is Sweet” dives into the dark and beautiful tension between love, desire, and self-preservation. Written after binge-watching True Blood, this song channels the haunting romance of vampires—the intoxicating pull between surrender and survival.

It’s about loving someone deeply while knowing you can’t give them everything. There’s power in vulnerability, but there’s also a quiet strength in holding onto your own light. In Blood is Sweet, that dance between hunger and restraint becomes something sacred and human.

The lyrics move between shadow and moonlight—where passion burns, fear fades, and connection lives in the space between giving and being consumed.

🎶 “I know my blood is sweet, there’s joy and life in it. You can walk in the sun for a minute, but you can’t take all of it.”

Musically, the song blends indie-folk and dark balladry, carried by a moody, intimate energy. It’s a love song wrapped in night air, where the boundary between lover and spirit blurs under the moon.

If you enjoy songs that explore love, mystery, and the pull between light and dark, this one’s for you.

🎵 Remember Me – A Sentimental Acoustic Journey

“Remember Me” is a heartfelt, nostalgic song about love, longing, and holding onto connection through life’s ups and downs. Written during a reflective period in the early ’90s—when I was newly married and recording demos on a four-track cassette in my attic—this tune carries the warmth and imperfections of that time.

It’s one of my more Dylanish pieces, inspired by the storytelling spirit and acoustic intimacy that shaped so much of that era’s songwriting. “Remember Me” is about hope, prayer, and the quiet wish to be remembered by someone who meant everything.

✨ Won’t you please remember me? When you get down on bended knees to say a prayer… won’t you remember me?

🎧 Listen, reminisce, and let this one take you back.

If you enjoy the song, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more original music and stories from the attic archives.
