Before MyMy Ro knew North Philadelphia, her mother had already lived more than two decades of its history.

In this documentary episode, MyMy Ro sits down with her mother, Cynthia, to explore the North Philadelphia she knew growing up. Their conversation explores the Civil Rights era, the experiences of Black families who migrated north seeking refuge from Jim Crow laws, racism, employment inequality, neighborhood change, the heroin and crack epidemics, Black on Black crime, and the transformation of communities across North Philadelphia.

Through personal memories, historical context, and conversations between generations, Same Streets, A Different Philadelphia looks beyond dates and headlines to explore what history felt like to the people who actually lived through it.

This is not the entire story of Philadelphia. It is one family's perspective within a much larger history.
