  • 10,000 miles a year: 7 hacks to help you reach your goals; whatever they are
    Oct 4 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

For me, the number is 10,000 miles on the bike in one year.

    But what’s your number?

    Maybe it's...

🚴 5,000 miles on the bike
    🏃 1,000 miles running
    🚶 10,000 steps a day
🏋️ 200 strength workouts this year
    ⏱️ 300 hours of exercise
📅 Working out 250 days this year
    🥾 52 hikes - one every week
🏊 100,000 yards in the pool
🚲 Riding your bike 3 days every week
💪 Or simply exercising more consistently than you did last year

The number is different for everyone. The process of getting there is surprisingly similar.

In Episode #8 of Obsessed with Cycling, I use my pursuit of a 10,000-mile cycling year to talk about something much bigger: How do you take a huge fitness goal and actually make it happen?

I share 7 hacks that have helped me chase 10,000 miles; breaking a massive goal into smaller pieces, getting ahead when you can, having backup options when life gets in the way, recognizing that short workouts still count, tracking your progress, turning the numbers into a game, and eventually making the pursuit part of your daily routine.

Because nobody rides 10,000 miles in a day.

Nobody completes 250 workouts in a week.

Nobody walks 3 million steps in a month.

    You do today's piece.

    Then tomorrow's.

    Then the next one.

And eventually something that looked ridiculous at the beginning of the year starts looking possible.

Whatever your goal is, pick your number. Break it down. Track it. Build your life around it. And keep stacking days.

  • 2: Don't Be An Asshole: It's not always the car's fault and 9 tips to being a better cyclist
    Aug 5 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

Drivers have a serious responsibility to protect cyclists—but let’s be honest: cyclists aren’t always blameless.

In Episode 2 of Obsessed With Cycling, Steve gets candid about nine ways all of us can ride better, regardless of how long we’ve been cycling:

    ✅ Signal clearly
✅ Take the lane when safety requires it
✅ Go single file when courtesy calls for it
    ✅ Follow the rules
    ✅ Make yourself visible
    ✅ Respect the group ride
    ✅ Say hello to everyone
✅ Stop treating every driver like the enemy
    ✅ Choose de-escalation over confrontation

You can demand safer roads while taking responsibility for how you ride. Those ideas don’t conflict—they strengthen each other.

Ride confidently. Ride predictably. Be decent.

    And don’t be an asshole.
