  • The Tightrope of Grace and Truth (Homosexual Prohibitions in Leviticus)
    Mar 29 2024

Same sex attraction is a highly controversial and delicate coversation that we have to be prepared to have with our friends and family. In this podcast I attempt to answer how the Old Testament and the New Testament view homosexual activity. Our response should be tender towards those that stuggle, and yet we should never compromise with our assesment of the truth.

  • BE ANGRY!!!...and turn to the Psalms (Ternes 4:4)
    Jan 2 2023

They have been the greatest source of comfort for ages. The Psalms are a place to offer our purest, most raw emotions before the Lord in an act of worship. Our pain and disappointment is not going to offend God, even if it is directed at Him. The Psalms give us language to meet Him in our anger and our gladness.

How should we interpret David's hatred for wicked people in Psalm 139? Why does Psalms 4:4 tell us to "be angry?" Discover some new insights on this episode of the Orthodox Renegade.

  • "Live like a monk, Save the world like a monk" With Scott Amante
    Nov 11 2022

We had our first guest on "The Orthodox Renegade" for this episode! My good friend Scott Amante came on to talk about Rod Dreher's book "The Benedict Option." Scott teaches Latin and Logic and a private Christian school and is passionate about seeing the church maintain its orthodox purity.

Is the church gaining influence over the culture or are we loosing it? Do we have a savior complex when it comes to who the next "Christian" political candidate is? What about the encroaching moves of the government on our freedoms and education? If we create our own communities, will we abandon the culture? We discuss all these subjects on this episode!

We hope you enjoy this one!

  • 88 reasons to believe in a Post-Trib Rapture, or at least 3
    Oct 28 2022

In this episode of the Orthodox Renegade, Kody begins to explain all of his beliefs surrounding the return of Christ! Though this has been a subject filled with endless disagreement and endless controversy, Kody believes that this subject isn't shrouded in as much mystery as we might think it is. The Bible has so much to say about Jesus' return and He is looking to raise up voices as we near its approaching.

Discover what Kody thinks about one of the most debated topics surrounding the end times, "the rapture!" It's a term we are all familiar with, but what does the scripture say about it?

  • The Weight of the glory of C.S. Lewis' writings
    Oct 12 2022

Welcome to the very first episode EVER of the Orthodox Renegade! Kody reads some of his favorite C.S. Lewis quotes from an essay entitled "The weight of glory." This is an essay that will hopefully compel you to love Jesus more and think deeper on the age to come. Lewis was one of the greatest thinkers of all time and was certainly a gift to the body of Christ. We hope this is a gateway to discovering more of his writings! Enjoy the episode!

    Quote 1
"The New Testament has lots to say about self- denial, but not about self-denial as an end in itself. We are told to deny ourselves and to take up our crosses in order that we may follow Christ; and nearly every description of what we shall ultimately find if we do so contains an appeal to desire."

    Quote 2
"Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased. "

    Quote 3
"We do not want merely to see beauty, though, God knows, even that is bounty enough. We want something else which can hardly be put into words—to be united with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive it into ourselves, to bathe in it, to become part of it. "

    Quote 4
"It may be possible for each to think too much of his own potential glory hereafter; it is hardly possible for him to think too often or too deeply about that of his neighbor. The load, or weight, or burden of my neighbors glory should be laid daily on my back, a load so heavy that only humility can carry it, and the backs of the proud will be broken. It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree, helping each other to one or other of these destinations. It is in the light of these overwhelming possibilities, it is with the awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all our dealings with one another, all friendships, all loves, all play, all politics. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal."
