For years, it sat in the backyard in Ridge, Maryland—weathered, forgotten, and hiding a story.
Carved into the old stone were a few tantalizing clues: I.O.O.F. TEMPLE, mysterious numbers, and a connection to a building that had disappeared from the community decades ago.
But what was the temple? Who were the Odd Fellows? And why did a piece of their history end up on my family’s property?
In Part 1 of this three-part St. Mary’s SOCO Stories mystery, KT Harris follows the first clues behind a forgotten piece of Ridge history—and discovers that sometimes the past isn’t buried very far at all.
