About this listen
Popp Talk with Mary Jane Popp Responding to Life's Difficulties and Healing Wisdom from the Afterlife with Selina Maitreya and Alexandra Leclere Mary Jane Popp talks with spiritual teacher Selina Maitreya about choosing love over fear and anger in daily life, then welcomes medium and author Alexandra Leclere to explore signs, dreams, and messages from loved ones who have passed. A Tease For Love, Nature, And Little House Mary Jane Popp opens Popp Talk promising an unusual show, saying if something sounds unusual she's "going to go for it." She teases several topics for the hour: the way of the wild woman and nature for women, healing from the afterlife, and a planned visit from Dean Butler, who played Laura Ingalls Wilder's love interest Almanzo on Little House on the Prairie. She adds that the show will also explore the word love, saying listeners need to "use a lot more" of it and promising to explain why. After a block of ads for hearing aids and walk-in tubs, and a performance of "Love Will Keep Us Together," Popp returns to ask whether people can respond to the world's hostility and division with love instead, setting up her first guest's take on the subject. Selina Maitreya Defines Spiritual And Love Popp introduces Selina Maitreya, a spiritual teacher, creator of the online Clarion Call conference, and author of Raise Your Frequency, Transform Your Life: How to Respond with Love to Life's Difficulties. Asked to define "spiritual," Maitreya says it is the inner frequency of love within the body, distinct from the physical world people move through daily. Popp presses on whether anyone can really respond with love when someone wants to hurt them, even someone who might "spit in your face." Maitreya answers that although people differ in politics, history, and experience, everyone shares the same underlying energy of love, the same divine spark people recognize in children, pets, and loved ones. She says kindness tends to breed kindness, the way a driver who gets cut off instinctively reacts from fear, while someone who extends love usually receives it back, which she says is reason enough to keep offering it outward regardless of the response. Compassion, Revenge, And A Mother's Pain Popp asks how anyone can love someone who wants to hurt them emotionally, not just physically, and invokes the idea of turning the other cheek. Maitreya says she would never stand and let herself be struck, but she would walk away blessing the person and offering compassion rather than anger. Popp shares that her own mother was deeply negative, always predicting disaster before any trip, and Maitreya replies that her mother was similarly negative, and, she reveals, died by suicide at sixty after years of pain from Crohn's disease and a belief in the right to choose how one dies. Popp also raises revenge, noting how often politicians seek it, and Maitreya says she goes instead to source, asking what a difficult moment is meant to teach her, since responding to chaos with more chaos only creates more of the same in the next moment. Frequency, Breath, And A Path Forward Maitreya explains that frequency is simply another word for energy, with low frequency showing up as pain or depression and the energy of love as the body's highest, most natural state. She says her book lays out a process for noticing which frequency a person occupies and shifting it in real time, including a practice called Open to Receive for people who struggle to accept love, and another called the Breath of Light, a five-minute practice of deep nasal breathing that she says reliably moves people out of a low frequency and into peace. Popp asks whether she ever helped her own mother raise her frequency, and Maitreya says no, since her mother died before Maitreya became a teacher. Before the segment ends, Maitreya gives the book's full title again and directs listeners to her site, practicalspiritualitywithselina.com, thanking Popp for helping spread love into the world. Alexandra Leclere's Path From TV To Spirit After a break, Popp introduces Alexandra Leclere, a former president of an international television production and multimedia firm who became an energy healer and medium over the past twenty years, and author of Healing Wisdom from the Afterlife. Leclere explains her shift began when fibroids and severe blood loss left a doctor warning she might drop dead in the street without a hysterectomy; instead, she visited a healer named Penny Leisen, recovered without surgery, and set out to make a documentary about healing. Auditing a healer's workshop, she attended a ceremony for a deceased woman named Evelyn and found herself seeing Evelyn's spirit comforting a grieving relative, a vision later confirmed by the family as accurate. From there, Leclere says, people kept asking her to help them find closure with loved ones who had died, until she accepted that her gift needed to be shared rather than hidden.
