    Jul 15 2026

Messiah Yeshua said we're supposed to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect. How do we do that? Is it even possible? That's the subject of this conversation with Barry Phillips and David Jones.

  • Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 4
    Jul 13 2026

Is the New Testament a midrash on the Torah? Bob O’Dell suggests that’s one way to look at it. That’s an observation that has grown out of his work with The Echoes Bible, which uncovers the connections of New Testament writings with the works of Moses. As Bob explains, since Jewish scholars have been midrashing – discussing, theorizing, and postulating – on the Torah for centuries, it stands to reason that the Jewish writers of the New Testament would have done the same. That’s a thread that enlivens our conversation in this fourth part of our interview.

Regarding midrash, Barry Phillips and David Jones investigate the implications of the instruction to train up our children in the way they should go. Who should do this training, what standards should they use, and what is the desired outcome? Our musical guests, Samuel and Benjamin Wearp and the Exodus Road Band, share insights on this topic.

  • Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Living Water
    Jul 8 2026

Messiah Yeshua said we were supposed to have in us wells of living water springing up to eternal life. Do those wells ever run dry? If so, what do we do? David Jones and Barry Phillips ponder these questions in this conversation.

  • Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 3
    Jul 6 2026

What does salvation have to do with Israel’s return from exile to their ancestral homeland? What does Messiah have to do with the distinction between clean and unclean animals? Those are among the questions addressed in this third part of our conversation with Bob O’Dell about The Echoes Bible. Bob leads us through an investigation of the echoes from Leviticus 20 in Romans 10, and in the process uncovers a number of connections that provide depth and breadth to our faith!

And regarding our faith, is Bible study a manly activity? Barry Phillips and David Jones have some thoughts on that in their midrash, “Be A Man.” Yes, godly men are people of action, but there are elements of peace and praise in their lives, as we hear in the music of Eved Adonai and the Aleph Tav Band.

There are currently three volumes of The Echoes Bible in print: Leviticus & Romans, Numbers & 1 Corinthians, and Deuteronomy & 2 Corinthians. More are on the way! To learn more and to purchase The Echoes Bible volumes, visit https://www.echoesbible.com/.

  • Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 2
    Jul 5 2026

Is it possible that the Apostle Paul intentionally organized his letter to the Romans according to the topical outline of Leviticus? Bob O’Dell contends that Paul not only did that with Romans, but also with his other letters. That’s why he and his colleagues are publishing The Echoes Bible as a multivolume study tool to uncover these New Testament connections with the Torah! We dive into those echoes of Leviticus and Romans in this second of our five-part conversation.

One well-known echo in scripture is Yeshua’s reference in John 3 to the Bronze Serpent of Numbers 21. Barry Phillips and David Jones investigate the wider and deeper meanings of that connection in their midrash, “Out of the Mouths of Snakes.” It’s really a matter of how we get along with others, as we hear in the music of Solomon Lopez and Will Spires.

  • Reunion Roadmap Midrash: What You Believe Is Not What You Think
    Jul 1 2026

Do we really have faith if we're not taking action on what we say we believe? That's the question Barry Phillips and David Jones consider in this conversation.

  • Bob O'Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 1
    Jul 5 2026

Even a casual reader of the New Testament notices that the writers refer to passages from the Old Testament, or Tanakh. That means Paul and his contemporaries were aware of what Moses and the Prophets wrote, but did they have a deeper purpose and pattern in their writing that goes beyond simple quotations and references?

This is the line of thinking that motivated Bob O’Dell and his colleagues to look for patterns, or echoes, from the Torah in the Gospels and Epistles of the Apostolic Writings. What they found is astounding: the New Testament books precisely mirror, or echo, the books of the Torah! Whether this was intentional on the part of the apostolic authors, or divine guidance from the Holy Spirit, the patterns are clearly identifiable.

The result of all this is publication of The Echoes Bible, a series of volumes pairing books of the Torah with the echoing books from the Apostolic Writings. In this five-part interview, Bob tells us the story of The Echoes Bible, and takes us into an investigation of the echoes of Leviticus that Paul built into Romans. This is just a sample of the many treasures opening up through this new lens of looking at scripture!

How we look at scripture, and how we look at life, is a question of perspective, as Barry Phillips and David Jones explain in their midrash, “Follow Your Eyes Or Not.” Two musical commentaries on this thought come from the creative talents of Peter Wales and Ray Myers.

  • Reunion Roadmap Midrash: Perception vs. Reality
    Jun 24 2026

Is reality based on our perceptions, or is it the other way around? What do we do when our perceptions and reality don't line up? These are important questions - especially when our perceptions and God's reality seem to be at odds. That's the point of this conversation with Barry Phillips and David Jones.
