About this listen

A major medical condition affects much more than physical well-being. Along with required treatments and medications, it can also cause secondary impact to relationships, self-esteem, priorities, faith, and emotional well-being. These non-medical side effects often upend life as much or more than the primary illness or injury. Join Steve Barnhart, forced to end his career because of his own heart condition, as he talks with guests dealing with the often unspoken consequences of a serious health diagnosis. In each episode listen to Steve’s guests discuss the challenges and unexpected blessings of lost health as they openly share, hoping to inform and encourage others.© 2023 Secondary Impact Hygiene & Healthy Living Physical Illness & Disease

  • Episode 9 Guest :: Kimberli
    Dec 17 2021

    In the first surge of COVID 19, before there were vaccines or even tests, Kimberli became very ill from the virus but then recovered as most patients did.  If that was the end of her story, it would be a sad, difficult story, however, it probably would not be categorized as a life changing health challenge.  Unfortunately, that's not where her story ended.  Two weeks after her initial recovery Kimberli began a new, much longer journey as a "Long-Haul" COVID patient.  Listen to Kimberli describe her experiences with the virus and all the many secondary impacts of her illness that continue to this day.  In this recording Kimberli refers to her blog that both encouraged and at times discouraged her along the way.  Here is a link to that blog.  http://www.kimberlihudson.com/blog
