About this listen

Welcome to the Self-Made Myth podcast. I'm your host, Shantani Moore. Consider this the anti-guru space we've all been praying for - one where leaders can be honest and be done with mainstream wellness theater. Tune into intimate conversations, real-time breakthroughs, and actions you can take right now to have a ripple effect - instead of me just gassing you up with good feelings that don't last. If you're successful on paper but struggling behind the scenes, it's all good - you're in the right place. Freedom isn't something you're fighting to build anymore. Freedom is your new baseline.Shantani Moore Alternative & Complementary Medicine Hygiene & Healthy Living

Everyone tells you to be more disciplined. Try harder. Stay consistent. Meanwhile, you have 100 unread emails, 49 open tabs, and a brain that would rather die than start that simple task. This episode reveals why your brain says no—and the Dope Stack method that makes it say yes.

    THIS IS FOR YOU IF:

    • You're successful at work but can't do simple things at home
    • Some days you can conquer the world, other days you can't shower
    • You think you're lazy (you're not)
    • Coffee doesn't work anymore
    • You need perfect conditions to start anything
    • You've tried every productivity hack and they all failed
    • You have ADHD, anxiety, or you're just tired
    • You hate yourself for being "inconsistent"

    WE DISCUSS:

Why Your Brain Says No: Every notification trained your brain to need constant hits. When you try to do boring work, your brain screams "where's my fix?"

The Big Lie: Motivation doesn't come before action. It comes AFTER. You've been waiting for something that doesn't exist.

ADHD/Anxiety Truth: You have less dopamine. Anxiety burns what's left. You're not weak. You're running on empty.

The Dope Stack Method: Put something fun WITH something boring. Create a "dopamine bridge" so your brain stops fighting you.

The 60-Second Rule: Your stack has to be ready NOW. Shoes by door. Socks inside shoes. Playlist loaded. No friction.

Body Doubling: FaceTime a friend while you clean. Use FocusMate. You don't get points for suffering alone.

The 30-Minute Playlist: Pick music. First song = your favorite. Last song = slow. When it ends, you can stop. (You won't want to.)

Your Morning Rules: No phone before 10am. Protein first. Move your body. Pick 3 things. That's it.

    Can't Face Email?

    • 30-minute playlist + coffee waiting + timer set

    Desk Is Chaos?

    • FocusMate session + candle lit + dance break after

    Boring Meeting?

    • Walking meeting + fidget toy + doodle pad

    Everything Sucks?

    • Triple threat: podcast + movement + timer (20 minutes max)

    TRUTH BOMBS FROM THE EPISODE

"You don't get bonus points for suffering in silence."

"Your Everest doesn't have to match anyone else's."

"There's nothing wrong with you for trying to stay steady in a world that wants to distract you."

"Forcing yourself through tasks when you're low doesn't build discipline. It builds resentment."

"You're not broken. Your strategies are from 1952."

Stop comparing yourself to people who don't have your brain. Your grandparents had 3 TV channels. You have infinite scroll. They went to bed at 9pm. You answer Slack at midnight. The world changed. Your strategies need to change too.

    ABOUT YOUR HOST:

You're the person everyone calls when shit hits the fan. The one who always has the answer. So why do you feel like a fraud who's lost the plot? This episode exposes why "seeking confidence" is terrible advice and reveals the one question that cuts through the millennial existential dread to show you what's actually yours.

    • You can see 10 years ahead but can't figure out tomorrow
    • You're successful on paper but feel like a loser behind closed doors
    • Everyone comes to you for your "gifts" but you feel empty after helping
    • You're caught in millennial existential dread, overthinking your identity
    • You're exhausted from being so damn capable all the time
    • You've tried every confidence hack but still feel disconnected from yourself
    • You're tired of preaching from mountains you've never actually climbed

The Visionary's Curse: Why your ability to see the future is stabbing you in the back (and keeping you paralyzed in the present)

Millennial Existential Dread vs. Real Life: What our grandparents knew that we forgot—they didn't sit around asking "who am I?"

The Only Question That Matters: What would you do if you got zero credit, zero pay, zero recognition, zero validation? (Your answer is where your real gifts live)

Your Gifts Aren't Party Favors: Why they're meant to be cherished, not given away—and what happens when you finally keep them for yourself

Stop Regurgitating, Start Living: The lost art of wisdom keeping and why we need medicine from lived experience, not borrowed mountaintops

From Dream Doula to Revolutionary: How to shake systems to their core from your actual authority (with sparkle on top)

What Everyone Else Says: Share your gifts! Build confidence! Trust yourself!

    What Actually Works:

    1. Stop giving your gifts away like they're party favors
    2. Cherish them, covet them, put them on the altar of your heart
    3. Fill yourself up with your own magic FIRST
    4. Ask: "What wants to be created from this filled-up place?"
    5. Only then do you lead—from overflow, not depletion

"Wherever you go, there's where you are."

"People try to change the world while ruining their own world."

"Stop preaching from mountaintops you've never been on."

"Your gifts are not meant to be given away."

"If you make one improvement every day for a year, that's 365 steps. You're going somewhere."

"The visionary mindset stabs us in the back."

If you knew you'd get no credit, no payment, no recognition, no validation—what would still be important to you? What conversations would you have? How would you spend your time?

Start there. That's where your actual authority lives. Not in confidence. Not in what you think you should do. But in what you'd do if nobody was watching.

This is your permission slip to stop contemplating your identity and start living it.

Share this episode with that friend who's brilliant but exhausted from helping everyone else. They need to hear that their gifts aren't meant to be given away.
