Shubz Says So is a live daily show streamed on YouTube Monday to Friday from 4pm to 7pm NZT. It’s real conversations about what’s going on in New Zealand and around the world. Politics, culture, sport, current affairs, controversy, everyday life and the stories people are actually talking about. I talk to politicians, candidates, commentators, athletes, veterans, community voices and everyday people with something worth saying. No echo chamber. No pretending everyone has to agree. Sometimes it’s serious, sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it gets heated, but the whole point is to have the conversation properly. If people are talking about it, we probably are too. • 113 | Peter Rowley: My Hand Stopped Working — Then the Symptoms Vanished
    Oct 19 2026

Peter Rowley dropped a pen — then couldn’t pick it up. He called 111. By the time the ambulance arrived, he felt fine.

But the hospital tests told a different story.

Peter joins Shubz to share his experience of a TIA, often called a mini-stroke, and the surgery that followed. He also opens up about prostate checks, getting older and why embarrassment shouldn’t stop men having those conversations.

There’s still plenty of Peter’s humour, along with stories about working with Billy T. James, five decades in television and a business venture that didn’t go to plan.

Elsewhere, we get into political lobbying, the consequences of speaking publicly, the backlash over Neil Waka’s Israel trip and how MMP works — including party votes, electorate seats and who actually gets into Parliament.

  • 112 | A Māori Case for Israel? Sheree Trotter Explains
    Oct 18 2026

Who speaks for Māori on Israel and Palestine?

Dr Sheree Trotter joins Shubz to explain her support for Israel, how her Te Arawa identity shapes her perspective, and why she challenges the settler-colonial label. We discuss Zionism, Palestinian rights, antisemitism and what interviewing Holocaust survivors has taught her.

Then, Meat Workers Union National Secretary Daryl Carran talks about the pressures facing the people behind one of New Zealand’s biggest industries. From uncertain hours and workplace injuries to holiday pay and the impact of possible plant closures — are workers getting a fair deal?

Plus, your comments and Shubz’s take on the issues throughout the show. Have your say below.

  • Don Brash: One Law for All — So Why the Divide? | Shubz Says So #111
    Oct 18 2026

One law for all — but why does the debate keep dividing New Zealand?

Don Brash joins Shubz to talk ten years of Hobson’s Pledge, Māori representation, Treaty obligations and the criticism that his organisation fuels racial division. What has it actually achieved, and what does he still want to change?

ACT candidate James Christmas faces questions on supermarket competition and the cost of living. Would government intervention bring grocery prices down, or could shoppers end up paying more? And if the market is the answer, why are families still waiting for cheaper food?

Plus, Palmerston North campaigner Angela Culling raises concerns about the proposed Bunnythorpe Business Park and potential hyperscale data centre. We talk fast-track approvals, electricity and water demands, infrastructure costs and whether locals are getting a proper say.

    Three guests. Plenty to challenge.
