    Hey Retro Gamers, welcome back to Bonus Round!

    These monthly podcast episodes are Patreon Exclusives and available at the Fire Flower level of support or higher. Each month, my guest and I will put together some sort of list, ranking, or otherwise fun conversation, usually related to that month's main episode.     Before I begin: yes, I did mess up my numbering AGAIN this month, but it all worked out just fine.

    Aaaanyway, this month's episode on Knights of the Round got me thinking about the best 2D beat 'em up games (or belt scrollers, as my PAL-Region friend Peter would say) of all time. We definitely figured out the best ONE of all time, but the remaining 20 or so are up for debate.

    To reiterate, my number 1 pick is in no way up for debate. It is literal, actual fact. Can you guess what game it is before listening?

    Hey Retro Gamers!


    For the holiday season this year I've decided to casually record a "12 Games of Christmas" series, in which I plan to share 12 video games that are in some way meaningful to me, or that will (hopefully) paint a picture of me as a gamer.


    I typically do a rapid-fire Q&A session with first-time guests to help you get to know their gaming tastes, but I've never done such a thing about myself for you, so here it is!


    Today's episode is Day 12! We made it! And for a very special day, I have a very special game. As of December 12th, 2025, if I HAAAAAAD to choose a game as the "Greatest Game of All Time" then it would be this one, a game I love very much and one that has already brought me just shy of 400 hours of festive, joyful playtime since its release, even though I haven't played more than an hour of that in 2025.
