In this lighthearted episode of the Sound in Faith Podcast I try to stump pastor Mike during the live recording. I hit him cold with a somewhat unusual and seemingly insignificant subject and he shares what the Bible has to say about it. While we have some fun, we also see how good principals of biblical interpretation are important even in everyday matters.

We live in a culture where aging is not viewed favorably. Almost everyone seems to be fighting against it. On today's podcast we'll look at what the Bible has to say about aging, how, even though it is something we experience because of the fall, God still uses it for our good and his glory.

This episode looks at why marriage matters so much—and why a Christ-centered marriage matters even more. Whether you’re engaged, newly married, or have been married for decades, we talk about how marriage is meant to reflect the gospel itself: Christ’s loving, sacrificial commitment to His church. Because of that, it’s no surprise that marriages face pressure, conflict, and discouragement when Christ isn’t at the center. Drawing from passages like Ephesians 5, we discuss what a Christ-centered marriage actually looks like, some common ways marriages drift off course, and a few simple, everyday practices that help keep Jesus at the center. We also offer encouragement for couples at every stage—from those just starting out to those in seasons of real struggle—pointing to the hope and grace Christ provides for every marriage.

Gossip and slander are everywhere in our culture, but they are not sins Christians are immune to, which is why this is a topic worth addressing. Scripture speaks plainly about the destructive power of our words, and the Bible consistently condemns both gossip and slander as serious sins of the tongue. In this episode, we’ll consider what Scripture reveals about the root and effects of these sins, how Christians can guard their hearts and words, and how we should respond when gossip or slander comes our way. We’ll also look at how Faith Baptist seeks to protect unity through our Communication Covenant and offer practical wisdom for distinguishing sinful speech from the loving sharing of genuine concerns—so that our words might build up rather than tear down.

We’re kicking off 2026 with a topic that is far more relevant (and revealing) than we often realize–Idolatry. We look at why idolatry deserves our attention now, what the Bible actually means by an “idol,” and why it’s about far more than statues made by human hands. We explore how Scripture frames the danger of serving idols, why they can be so hard to spot in our own lives, and how even Christians are not immune. Along the way, we unpack some of the most common cultural idols, get to the root of why our hearts drift toward them, and explain why idolatry is “worthless worship.” Most importantly, we talk about how to combat idolatry—not by simply trying harder, but by allowing God to re‑order our loves—sharing practical next steps and recommended resources.
