After Week 1, people made all kinds of proclamations about the state of the NFL. The Bears are the best offense in the NFL after scoring 59 points. The Browns offense is incapable of moving the football. The Patriots are suddenly bad after reaching the Super Bowl last year. Of course, by the end of Week 2, all of those takes looked silly. Yet overreactions are commonplace during the long and grueling football season.

Plus, Sean and Joey each had some adventures at various stadiums (football and baseball, respectively), and we dissect some of the ins and outs of Saturday Night Live after Joey visited the "50 Years of SNL Music" exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" by Journey

We had to record this episode in advance of any of the NFL games being played, so cheer us for making correct predictions (such as Deshaun Watson being bad at football) and also cheer us for making bold ones that didn't happen (like Titans/Jets being the game of the weekend). And we doubt anyone would have predicted the Bears and Panthers would combine for 96 points, the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history.

Plus, Sean waxes poetic about the Kawhi Leonard and Los Angeles Clippers situation, and Joey attended a Guardians game that featured an 18-pitch at-bat that eventually ended in a walk (though he didn't know that when we were recording). Fascinating stuff!

Browse through the scores of most college football games during Week 1 and...well, you'd see a lot of blowouts. Joey attended a Texas A&M game as a reporter, and the final score was 50-0. Sean's Texas Longhorns won by 52 points. Other big schools beat up on low-end FBS or FCS universities in games that were pretty much decided before halftime.

Of course, we did have a few marquee matchups, including the Ole Miss/Louisville thriller, and some entertaining games between schools that will probably be good (Oregon and Boise State) and schools that will probably only be so-so (Auburn and Baylor). Either way, we're happy college football and all the dumb elements of it are back.

And don't you worry, we're also talking about the wild ending of that Michigan/Western Michigan game, afternoon start times for southern schools, and some unique latte flavors.
