Sheila is a PhD researcher studying the spiritual aspect of sleep paralysis. She joins us to talk about her research, what we can learn from the phenomenon, and how people suffering from sleep paralysis may be able to find relief.

Having suffered from sleep paralysis for most of her life, Sheila was uniquely suited to study the phenomenon from a scientific perspective. She believes that seeing it as a spiritual experience, that is, a non-physical engagement, is the only way to make progress in treating the condition. Seeing depictions of sleep paralysis in art through the centuries strengthens the claim that something is occurring outside the scope of the individual mind.

Many people experience similar things: being awake in a shadowy environment, feeling like they're being watched, and feeling a sense of dread or foreboding. Sheila tells us that often there was a beast on her chest, literally taking the wind out of her. She believes this isn't some phenomenon going on inside her head, but rather, an actual entity visiting her in another plane of existence.

Sleep paralysis unlocks gifts for many people: astral projection, lucid dreaming, pre-cognition, and a general sense of looking beyond the veil.
