October Theme: Change Isn't Always Bad

Episode: You Can't Take Everything Into the Next Season

Every season of life brings change, but not everything from your past is meant to go with you into your future.

Sometimes the very things that helped you succeed in one season can hold you back in the next. Whether it's old habits, past disappointments, relationships, or simply the way we've always done things, growth requires knowing what to carry forward and what to leave behind.

In this week's episode of Strategies for Success, we talk about recognizing when it's time to let go, embracing the season ahead, and understanding that moving forward sometimes means leaving something behind.

You can't step into a new season while holding on to everything from the last one.

    Now it's time to execute!

    October 9: What Shouldn’t Change?

Change can be good, and sometimes it’s absolutely necessary. But not everything needs to change. In this episode of Strategies for Success, we look at the famous story of New Coke and what happened when Coca-Cola decided to replace the formula people had known for generations. The reaction became a powerful reminder that before we change something, we need to understand what made it valuable in the first place. The same principle applies in business, ministry, leadership, and life. Our methods may change, our technology may change, and the way we reach people may change. But our mission, values, integrity, and faith shouldn’t shift with every new trend. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” The challenge isn’t simply knowing how to change. It’s having the wisdom to recognize what needs to change and what is worth holding onto.

October 2: Change Isn’t Always Bad

Change can be uncomfortable, but refusing to change can cost us even more. In this episode of Strategies for Success, we kick off our October series on change with the story of Kodak, a company that dominated photography for generations but struggled to adapt as the world moved toward digital photography. Ironically, one of the first digital cameras was actually developed by a Kodak engineer, yet the company remained heavily invested in the film business that had made it successful. Kodak’s story gives us a powerful leadership lesson: what made you successful in one season may not be what carries you into the next. Whether in business, ministry, leadership, or our personal lives, we have to know the difference between protecting our core values and simply protecting what feels familiar. Seasons change, technology changes, and opportunities change. Sometimes moving forward means being willing to release an old method without abandoning the mission. Change isn’t always bad. Sometimes it’s exactly what we need to step into what’s next.
