On this episode of T.H.A.T. Curator Connects Podcast, we feature our very first guest, Jiya Pinder.
Jiya is a cultural strategist, digital storyteller and the founder of We The Diaspora. Her work revolves around preserving and celebrating the stories of the African Diaspora through community-centered archiving and memory work. Although Jiya comes from a background in marketing and project management, she is transitioning into the evolving world of curation!
In this episode, we cover topics including:
- A description of the services We The Diaspora offers
- Personal interests and inspirations behind curatorial and archival work
- Preservation and Historical Documentation of Cultural Heritage
- How to honor accessibility
We The Diaspora is also partnering with All Black Creatives, an organization that focuses on celebrating the diversity in black culture and providing support to black creatives, to construct a Black Legacy Project.
The Creative Legacy Project invites black natives to submit a photo that has shaped their creative journey through memory, archival stories and imagination.
