Returning to the world, he gains fame, endures shame from a hideous damsel, and accepts solitary quests. After twenty years of wandering, confrontation with a hermit awakens him; he re-enters the Grail Castle and finally asks, “Whom does the Grail serve?” — restoring the Fisher King and the realm.
