  • From Rock Bottom to Purpose: Tyler Bowser’s Path to Healing
    Oct 6 2026
Some journeys are shaped by moments that force you to decide whether to keep hiding or start rebuilding. For Tyler Bowser, that journey has included military service, unimaginable loss, addiction, homelessness, recovery, faith, and ultimately a new purpose serving fellow veterans. After growing up in Southern California and following his grandfather and brother into military service, Tyler joined the Air Force, where he found a sense of belonging, mission, and community that would stay with him long after leaving active duty.In this episode of the Tango Tango podcast, sponsored by CareSource Military & Veterans, host Lloyd Knight sits down with Tyler Bowser, Program Director for Connecting Georgia Veterans, to discuss the experiences that shaped his life and his path back from its lowest point. Tyler reflects on his time in the Air Force, deploying to Kuwait, transitioning into the civilian workforce, losing his daughter Taylor Kate to spinal muscular atrophy, and returning overseas as a contractor in Afghanistan. He also shares how attending more than 40 fallen comrade ceremonies made him realize that he was not healing from his pain, he was hiding from it.They also discuss Tyler’s struggle with alcohol, homelessness, and undiagnosed bipolar disorder, and the moment in 2016 when he decided his life had to change. Tyler shares how support from the VA, Veterans Empowerment Organization, his faith, recovery community, and relationships helped him rebuild. Today, he leads Connecting Georgia Veterans, helping veterans access resources and benefits through the Vector Center and working to remove the barriers that can prevent people in crisis from getting the help they need.Jump into the conversation:(00:00) Intro(01:32) Growing up in Southern California(03:05) Why Tyler chose the Air Force(05:56) Deploying to Kuwait(07:58) Why he left the Air Force(09:03) Early success and setbacks after service(12:15) Losing his daughter(17:09) Struggling after divorce and loss(19:01) Returning to the mission in Afghanistan(20:21) The fallen comrade ceremonies that changed him(23:13) Addiction, arrests, and losing everything(24:30) Becoming homeless in Atlanta(26:10) The moment Tyler decided to change(27:30) Beginning recovery through veteran support(29:00) Turning his story into service(36:18) Rebuilding family and relationships(41:37) Leading Connecting Georgia Veterans(45:02) Tyler’s advice to veterans who are strugglingAdditional Links & Resources:Learn more about Tango Tango: https://supplychainnow.com/program/tango-tangoConnect with Lloyd Knight: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lloydknightConnect with Tyler Bowser: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tyler-bowser-07748825/Learn more about Connecting Georgia Veterans: https://www.connectinggeorgiaveterans.org/CareSource Military & Veterans: https://www.caresource.com/about-us/caresource-military-and-veterans/Work with us! • Chapters of a Patriot: Kevin Horgan’s Life in Uniform, Work, and Words
    Sep 22 2026
Some careers follow a straight line. Others are built through service, adaptability, and the relationships that endure along the way. For Kevin Horgan, five years in the U.S. Marine Corps became the foundation for a decades-long career at UPS, a commitment to the veteran community, and an approach to leadership rooted in listening, learning, and bringing your best every day. Through every transition, Kevin learned that success is rarely an individual achievement. As he puts it, “No one’s an island.”In this episode of the Tango Tango podcast, sponsored by CareSource Military & Veterans, host Lloyd Knight sits down with Marine Corps veteran, retired UPSer, VETS-TALK Co-Founder, VETLANTA Executive Board Member, and author Kevin Horgan to reflect on his journey through military service, law school, corporate leadership, and veteran advocacy. Kevin shares lessons from becoming a young Marine officer, learning when to listen instead of lead, attending law school while working at UPS, and navigating a career filled with challenging assignments and transitions.Today, Kevin continues turning those experiences into service through VETS-TALK, VETLANTA, and his writing. His latest work translates Marine Corps leadership principles into lessons for civilian life, drawing from his own experiences and fellow Marines he has known across more than four decades. His message remains simple: maintain the relationships that matter, learn from the people around you, and bring your best to whatever comes next.Jump into the conversation:(00:00) Intro(02:07) Growing up in New Jersey(04:40) College lessons, marriage, and finding direction(05:34) Choosing the Marine Corps(06:35) Entering OCS during the Iran hostage crisis(07:17) An unexpected leadership lesson from Santa(13:22) Learning to listen as a young officer(15:17) Leaving the Marines for law school(17:31) Balancing law school and nights at UPS(21:53) Building a career through constant change(27:59) Navigating a major UPS restructuring(29:05) Moving to Atlanta and putting down roots(30:05) Building community through veteran events(33:46) Friendship, faith, and showing up for others(46:11) Turning Marine leadership lessons into a bookAdditional Links & Resources:Learn more about Tango Tango: https://supplychainnow.com/program/tango-tangoConnect with Lloyd Knight: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lloydknightConnect with Kevin Horgan: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevin-horgan-6001b517/Listen to VETS-TALK: https://vets-talk.com/Learn more about VETLANTA: https://vetlanta.org/Learn more about Kevin’s Books: https://kevinhorganbooks.com/Learn more about CareSource Military & Veterans: https://www.caresource.com/about-us/caresource-military-and-veterans/Work with us! • The Veteran’s Arc: Peter Mahmood on Army Life, Corporate Transition, and Hiring Insights
    Sep 8 2026

From combat engineer to combat medic, flight medic, Army officer, recruiting commander, and now military and veteran recruiter, Peter Mahmood’s career is a story of adaptability, service, and being willing to take the next opportunity, even when it wasn’t part of the original plan.

In this episode of the Tango Tango Podcast, sponsored by CareSource Military & Veterans, host Lloyd Knight sits down with Army veteran and Cox Enterprises military relations leader Peter Mahmood to explore his remarkable 24-year military career and the pivots that shaped his path. Peter shares stories from assignments in Germany, Korea, West Point, Washington, D.C., and Iraq, along with his transition from enlisted soldier to officer and eventually into Army recruiting. The conversation then turns to Peter’s civilian career, his work connecting veterans and military spouses with opportunities at Cox Enterprises, and practical advice for service members preparing to leave the military. Peter also discusses why translating the full scope of military experience, not simply an MOS, is critical to finding the right civilian career.

    Key Takeaways
    • Embrace the pivot: Peter’s career demonstrates how stepping outside your comfort zone and remaining open to unexpected opportunities can lead to an entirely different and rewarding career path.
    • Your MOS doesn’t tell your whole story: Transitioning service members should consider their additional duties, leadership experience, certifications, and skills when determining how their military experience translates to civilian careers.
    • Start transition planning early: Service members should use the year before separation to research careers and companies, refine their resumes and interview skills, build their LinkedIn presence, and understand their VA benefits.
    • Military skills translate across industries: From automotive and logistics to cybersecurity, IT, sales, agriculture, and operations, veterans bring valuable skills to a wide variety of civilian roles.
    • Veteran hiring is about talent—not charity: Peter emphasizes that companies should hire veterans because of the experience, leadership, adaptability, and qualifications they bring to the job.
    • Relationships open doors: From Peter’s Army recruiting experience to his civilian career, building connections and developing strong community relationships have remained central to his success.

Peter’s journey is proof that a career doesn’t have to follow a straight line to be successful. Whether you’re a service member preparing to transition, a veteran considering your next career move, a military spouse, or an employer looking to better understand military talent, this conversation offers practical insights and encouragement. Tune in for a candid look at navigating career pivots, translating military experience, building meaningful relationships, and finding opportunities beyond the uniform.
