    Aug 6 2026

Texas Tech football enters the 2026 season ranked No. 12 in the preseason Coaches Poll after winning the Big 12 Championship and reaching the College Football Playoff. Now the pressure is on Joey McGuire, Will Hammond and the Red Raiders to prove last season wasn’t a one-year breakthrough.

  • JONES NO MORE?! Texas Tech Lands a $75 Million Stadium Jackpot
    Jul 17 2026

Jones Stadium is no more—at least officially.

Texas Tech has reportedly landed a massive 15-year, $75 million naming-rights agreement with Galaxy, transforming the historic home of Red Raiders football into Galaxy Stadium beginning with the 2026 season.

In this episode of the Texas Tech Red Raiders Daily Blitz, IndyCarTim examines whether the agreement is a financial masterstroke or a painful surrender of Texas Tech tradition. The partnership is expected to generate approximately $5 million annually while creating new NIL and commercial opportunities for Red Raiders athletes.

Can Texas Tech use the Galaxy Stadium money to build on its first College Football Playoff appearance, retain elite players and become a permanent Big 12 championship contender? Or will fans reject the new identity and continue calling the stadium “The Jones”?

The official name may be changing, but the debate over money, tradition and Texas Tech’s national ambitions is only beginning.

  • Red Raiders' Joey McGuire Challenges Longhorns & Steve Sarkisian | Texas Tech Daily Blitz
    May 29 2026

The Texas-Texas Tech football rivalry hasn’t needed much help finding juice over the years, but Sarkisian gave it plenty when he questioned the Red Raiders’ path compared to Texas’ schedule. His comment landed like a lit match in Lubbock.

“There's a team in our state in another conference with a schedule that I would argue, if I played with our twos and threes [on the depth chart], we could go undefeated,” Sarkisian said. “And they'll probably make the CFP this year.”

    That’s not subtle. That’s not coach-speak. That’s a direct shot.
