  • Shadow Work
    Oct 4 2023
The 9K Experience Episode 7 Title: Shadow Work Pre-Intro: Bonus episode this week…I want to talk about Shadow work and some journal prompts you can use to help work on this. This episode is going to be a little different and probably a little shorter than normal but it’s something I’ve come across and wanted to get this out to you to help with improving mental health and moving you out of your comfort zones. Intro: Sponsor: The 9K Experience is brought to you by DeVega CBD Relief, founded in 2018 by Scott Van and Chris Bentler. These two guys have created an amazing company and they really care about people. Check them out at devegacbd.com for all your CBD needs. Main Topic: Shadow Work What is Shadow WorkCarl Jung said, “Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is.”The idea of shadow work is to bring the dark sides out of yourself and learn to accept them. It’s not dangerous but can be scary and painful to bring these parts up and work on them. It can create healing and peace within yourself. It uncovers your subconscious motives and the reasons you do the things you do. Benefits of Shadow WorkHelp find you purpose in lifeMore courage to face the unknowMore confidence to be your true authentic selfDeeper love, acceptance, and understanding of yourself. Improved relationships with othersIncreased empathy and compassionBetter mental healthA clearer perception of the worldIncreased creativityAwareness of toxic patterns you are repeating, so you can change themHelp you find the root cause of your problems and traumas 16 Journal Prompts for Shadow Work What did my childhood me need the most? What am I avoiding? What am I addicted to? What secrets am I hiding and why?Am I being honest with myself and others? What are my biggest misconceptions of myself? What are my biggest fears? What do I need to let go of? Am I a victim of trauma? Have I done enough to heal? 10.What do I need to forgive myself for? 11.What lessons do I still need to learn? 12.What do I want the most in this lifetime? 13.What are the first signs you notice when your mental health is dipping?14.Do I try to hide any parts of my true self from others? Why? 15.What was I like as a child? 16.What’s the worst way someone could describe you? So, you know it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t at least mention something about CBD right. A co-worker was talking with someone about using CBD, the person they were talking to said they want to try CBD, then asked a question I have heard quite a few times: What CBD doesn’t show up with THC in blood work? This person is a single mom and concerned about having THC show up in her system. Let’s understand the Difference You have: Full Spectrum: Includes ALL active hemp-derived cannabinoids When you select a Full Spectrum CBD product, your product contains naturally occurring cannabinoids (including less than 0.3% THC), plant terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, and minerals of the original hemp source. These compounds work together, multiplying the potential health benefits of each of the product components in what is known as the “Entourage Effect”. Broad Spectrum: Includes MOST active hemp-derived cannabinoids EXCEPT THC Broad Spectrum refers to a whole plant extract, in which all of the plant components remain except for THC. Broad Spectrum products contain an array of cannabinoids, plant terpenes, flavonoids, minerals, with ZERO THC, enhancing the potential health benefits. CBD Isolate: Includes ONLY 99% pure hemp-derived CBD CBD Isolate is cannabidiol in its purest form – a full spectrum product that has been further processed to remove the plant compounds. All that remains is a white powder that is at least 99% pure CBD with zero percent THC. This powder is then transformed into various CBD Isolate products such as oils and edibles. No matter which form of CBD you’re using if it is at or under the .3% THC then you will be good, anything at or under .3% of THC is not considered pot. In Texas both Delta 8 and Delta 9 are legal, that means if you have to do a blood test or a urine test and you do happen by some off the wall chance to pop hot then you can take the container of your CBD product that you are using and let them know what you are using. Times are changing and things are changing, don’t let people tell you that you can get in trouble for using a legal product. Now if you are in the military or a first responder then things are different, there is a zero-tolerance policy meaning even with .0001% of THC in your system you can get in trouble. If your company has this kind of policy for any reason talk to HR about this, it might be an old, outdated policy that has not been updated that needs to be looked at. Or there could also be a legitimate reason for the zero-tolerance THC policy they have. I’m not telling you to go rouge and just do it anyway. Talk to...

  • How CBD Works in the Human Body
    Oct 3 2023
The 9K Experience Episode 6 Title: How CBD Works in the Human Body Pre-Intro: So, we’ve been talking about the benefits of CBD, how it’s helped me and many others get off of thousands of prescription pills a year, the symptoms it helps alleviate. Today I want to talk about how CBD works in the human body. Stick around and we’ll jump into that here shortly. Intro: Sponsor: The 9K Experience is brought to you by DeVega CBD Relief, founded in 2018 by Scott Van and Chris Bentler. These two guys have created an amazing company and they really care about people. Check them out at devegacbd.com for all your CBD needs. From social media: Funny Quotes about CBD and Weed. Main Topic: Endocannabinoid Systems (ECS) Our bodies have an Endocannabinoid System. It does not have an Ibuprofen system. History of the Endocannabinoid SystemThe first cannabinoid discovered was cannabinol (CBN) in 1895.This led to the identification of cannabidiol (CBD) in 1940. 1964 Israeli Professor Raphael Mechoulam – identified tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). These studies led to research on cannabinoids and scientists discovered they possessed therapeutic benefits. 1988 cannabinoid receptors were discovered in the brains of animals. The presence of cannabinoid receptors meant organisms were naturally designed to interact with cannabinoids. Led to theories that humans and animals produced their own cannabinoids. 1992- Lumir Hanus confirmed this hypothesis by discovering and identifying the first endocannabinoid: anandamide. This was the official discovery of the Endocannabinoid System. Since this discovery scientists have conducted numerous studies to further the understanding of the Endocannabinoid System. More (somehow) studies are needed, but scientists believe they have found the purpose of the ECS, its components, and how it may be influenced to treat a host of illnesses. Purpose of the ECSResponsible for balance in the body, or homeostasis. Bodies tendency to reach equilibrium, like body temperature, blood sugar levels and much more. This is why it’s so hard to lose weight if you have been overweight for years. The reason the body doesn’t like “Change”. Help the body stay stable. What does the ECS consist of?Cannabinoid ReceptorsCB1 and CB2 EnzymesThese break down the cannabinoids in the body. Two FAAH and MAGL CBD and Cannabinoid Receptors CBD does not bind directly with CB1 or CB2 but interact with these receptors indirectly. Influences how the receptor interacts with endocannabinoids and other phytocannabinoids – plant cannabinoids. Interacts directly with the TRPV1 receptor a non-cannabinoid receptor. These receptors are responsible for pain perception. Also interacts with serotonin receptors. When activated, the receptors help reduce stress and anxiety levels. Making CBD helpful for people who struggle with anxiety and depression. CBD interacting with the EnzymesCBD allows the endocannabinoids to last longer in the body by inhibiting their enzymes from breaking down endocannabinoids as quickly as they would otherwise.Helps when treating illnesses that benefit from an increase in endocannabinoids. Subtopic 1: Cannabinoids Naturally produced in the bodyImportant for homeostasisHomeostasis keeps the at a regular level Helps to strengthen the function of the Endocannabinoid systemCannabinoid receptor 1 CB1 is found in abundance in the Central nervous systemCB2 is found in the gastrointestinal tract, immune cells, and peripheral nervous system. Responsible for managing functions in the bodyImmune function, pain, sleep, mood, memory, digestion, fertility, and motor control. CBD activates the serotonin receptors in the bodyThere is a lot of ongoing research that supports how CBD influences a wide variety of all the systems in the body. CBD should be taken daily; you cannot overdose on CBD and because it’s lipophilic (Fat-Soluble) it compounds in your body over time. This adds to the potential health benefits Managing PainCertain chemicals in CBD attach to the pain receptors in the body and will cause their inhibition. Has been found that most people with chronic pain find relief after using CBD. Can protect you from any painful conditions Subtopic 2: The Future of the ECS and CBD As the understanding of the ECS grows so does the ability to manipulate it for therapeutic benefits. CBD is quickly getting scientific support as one such way to safely and effectively influence the ECS for the treatment of illness. A lot of research supports it as treatments for conditions including epilepsy, migraine, immune disorders, MS, asthma, neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and possibly many more that are currently unknown at this time. Research is crucial for these illnesses because many people cannot find relief with the current treatments and medications available. There are high quality studies being done as public ...
