  • 12. The secrets behind the best exercise for you

    Almost any exercise is good for you, but not all exercises affect your body the same way. And things really start getting interesting when you ask, “But what exercise is best for me?”

    Especially, if you’re like me and had an injury you had to recover from, it takes quite a while to get back to where you were athletically. Or if you are just starting out with a new exercise routine, it takes time to build your endurance and your strength. Don’t get upset with yourself if things seem hard.

    If you’re having a tough time deciding what is best for your body, start paying attention to how your body feels during your workout.

    BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING, YOU’LL DISCOVER:  

    • How to be aware of your movements, form, and feeling during a movement
    • How effective and beneficial high intensity interval training really is. And it doesn’t mean high impact! 

    The first piece of advice is to be willing to experiment with different forms of exercise without getting discouraged. Try various things, pay attention to how you move through the workout, and assess how you feel. If it’s not for you, give something else a try.

  • 11. A few things to know about fasting

    When you think about fasting, do you think you’d starve? I know I did when I first looked into it. But come to find out, there’s something magical about fasting.

    I finally learned the difference between a full 24-hour fast and intermittent fasting where I can still get some amazing health benefits without going that long without food. Do you know the difference?

    There are so many different ways to fast, and it’s not a one size fits all. I tried a few different timings before I found the effective zone without me being totally hangry.

    BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING, YOU’LL DISCOVER:

    • Fasting is very flexible and can work for just about everyone.
    • Intermittent fasting actually helps boost and speed up your metabolism, unlike what we were taught. If you skip breakfast, you’ll kick your body into starvation mode, and it will save EVERY SINGLE calorie for a rainy day. Not true.
    • Fasting can improve your brain function. Intermittent fasting allows your body to do some much needed clean up – cellular autophagy where your cells clean up the waste and get rid of it.

    So, if you haven’t ever fasted before, I suggest you look into it more and try out some different options to see how you feel. You eventually find the rhythm that works best for you, so you don’t feel like you’re starving or hangry. No brain fog.

  • 10. Do you set goals for your personality?

    If we’re sailing a ship, goals are our destination, like a tropical island. We adjust the rudder and we set our sails out towards that island.

    We’re all taught to use the SMART method for setting and achieving goals. Make them Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely. But did those who taught us this method ever think that maybe it’s not for everyone?

    I never realized this, but just by writing down your goals you’re about 40% more likely to achieve them! Wow! That’s a significant increase in improving your chances of reaching your goals. Just by writing them down.

    BY THE TIME YOU FINISH LISTENING, YOU’LL LEARN: 

    • That not everyone is wired to set and achieve “SMART” goals
    • Some personalities get stressed out by due dates and deadlines
    • If your personality favors due dates and specifics or you need broader statements in your goals

    But we can see that the SMART method doesn’t work for everyone. So, think about what we discussed today to determine how to best set goals for you. Then, actually go set a goal for your personality type and enjoy how it makes you feel because that’s more important to your success than deadlines and due dates (unless you like those)!
