• Why New Coaches Should Start Charging Now
    Mar 2 2026

There’s something I say to almost every new coach that makes people uncomfortable. Start charging immediately. Not when you feel ready. Not after you have a stack of testimonials. Now. We’ve been conditioned to believe charging is selfish or premature, that we need more training before we’re “worth it.” That is not true. Charging is professionalism. When you coach for free indefinitely, you are not being generous. You are avoiding discomfort and training your nervous system to associate your work with overgiving.

Free coaching is not neutral. When there is no investment, people show up differently. They cancel more easily. They prepare less. They take less ownership. Coaches shift too. You over-function. You over-explain. You try to prove yourself. The container gets blurry. Payment creates clarity. Money is not a reward. It is a boundary. When someone pays you, they commit. And you show up differently as well.

This is not about charging premium rates tomorrow. It is about operating like a professional now. Clear agreements. Clear pricing. Clean boundaries. When you do not charge, you risk burnout and resentment. Charging early builds integrity and confidence. If you want help building a coaching business that does not rely on overgiving or undercharging, download the Anti-Hustle Business Checklist. Charging does not make you less compassionate. It makes your work clean.

  • How to Get a Coaching Request (and Structure a Coaching Call That Actually Works)
    Feb 23 2026

Most new coaches do not lack skill. They lack structure. In this episode, I name the insecurity almost every coach feels at the beginning. Not knowing what to say next. Feeling anxious about silence. Worrying you are doing it wrong. Coaching is not meant to feel like a normal conversation. It is a structured conversation designed to create results. If it feels clunky, you are learning. Like any new language, it gets easier with practice.

I explain why getting a clear coaching request at the start of every session changes everything. Without one, sessions drift or turn into venting. A session without a request is just a conversation, and that is not what your client is paying for. I walk you through a clean session flow, how to check in mid-call, and how to close in a way that reinforces ownership. This is where you learn to redirect instead of rescue and keep responsibility with the client.

Structure builds trust and safety. Clear agreements create predictable containers. Returning to the request keeps the session focused and ethical. When clients know where they are in the process, they relax and go deeper. If you feel unsure in sessions, this will ground you. If you want support building a coaching business that does not rely on w

  • Why Anti-Hustle Is the Only Sustainable Business Model for Coaches
    Feb 16 2026

Anti-hustle isn’t a trend for me. It’s a response to what I’ve watched happen to coaches, including myself, over the last decade. We’re building businesses inside collective stress, economic pressure, and an industry that has normalized burnout as the cost of success. This episode isn’t about working less just because. It’s about what allows coaches to stay ethical, present, and effective long-term. Because if your business only works when you’re dysregulated, that’s not sustainability. That’s a coping strategy.

I unpack what people get wrong about anti-hustle, why hustle models quietly burn out coaches and harm clients, and why sustainability isn’t a self-care aesthetic or a mindset preference. It’s an ethical obligation. Burned-out coaches can’t hold clean containers. Urgency leaks into sessions. Boundaries blur. Integrity gets compromised when survival mode is running the show. A dysregulated coach cannot create regulated change.

This episode sets the foundation for Season 7, where we’re focusing on coach training, ethics, and professional business building. We’ll talk about how to hold containers cleanly, charge ethically, show up visibly without burning out, and build trust instead of chasing attention. If hustle has been your default, you’re not weak and you’re not doing it wrong. You were taught survival strategies. The real question is what sustainability looks like for you now, and whether you’re ready to build a business you can actually live inside of.

  • Coming Back to Myself: A Season of Recalibration
    Feb 9 2026

Season 6 was not a growth season. It was a recalibration. In this finale, I’m sharing what this chapter was really about. Stabilizing my nervous system, my health, my finances, and coming back to my body. I was not trying to build something new. I was trying to get back on my feet.

Storytelling became the medicine. Not as content, but as integration. I stopped performing and started telling the truth about my life, my recovery, my relationships, and the messy in between. That honesty helped me regulate, reconnect, and remember who I am and why I do this work.

I talk about what I was quietly rebuilding behind the scenes. Choosing stability over expansion. Consistency over spikes. Sustainability over urgency. Letting go of old identities, listening to my body instead of the algorithm, and redefining success in a way my nervous system can actually hold.

This episode is for anyone in a rebuilding season. You are not behind. You are not broken. You are listening. Season 6 was me coming back to myself. Thanks for being here while I did.

  • Midlife, But Make It Rebellious ft. Karen Shatafian
    Feb 2 2026

Today I’m talking with my friend and former client, Karen Shatafian, about the real behind-the-scenes journey from “I don’t even know if I want to coach” to becoming the woman who helps other women say the truth out loud.

We get into the messy middle of reinvention, the good-girl conditioning that keeps women quiet, and why “divorce coach” was a necessary chapter for Karen, but not the whole story. This is a conversation about reclamation, about the second half of your life belonging to you, and about what happens when your why gets louder than your fear.

Karen is also celebrating a big milestone by opening 30 free conversations for women who feel that inner nudge for more, whether that’s divorce, a career shift, a relationship reset, or just the feeling that your life doesn’t fit anymore.

  • Accountability Hits Different When It’s Your Own Business
    Jan 26 2026

This episode started as a completely unplanned recording and turned into one of those conversations I knew needed to be shared. Siobhan and I were already deep in it, talking honestly about business, work, energy, and what it looks like to evolve when the old ways stop fitting.

We talk about something I’ve been noticing in my own life and business lately... How easy it is to be incredibly organized, focused, and accountable when I’m working for a client, and how slippery that can get when it’s just me running my own business. I share how my “anti-hustle” values swung a little too far into a lack of structure, and how that showed up in my income, my programs, and my motivation.

Siobhán reflects on her own journey building and refining her work over years, not months. We talk about what it really takes to develop a signature offer, why repetition and refinement matter more than constant reinvention, and how listening to your audience can lead you somewhere better than what you originally planned.

We also get real about the parts of business people don’t love to talk about. Accountability when no one is watching, the temptation to hide in backend tasks that feel productive but don’t actually lead to clients, and the vulnerability of putting yourself out there consistently. We explore how consulting and done-for-you work can create stability and relief, while still leaving room for coaching, creativity, and growth.

This conversation is for anyone who feels like they’ve gone a little too far in the name of ease, is craving structure without burnout, or is in the middle of a pivot they didn’t see coming. If you’re willing to stay curious, follow what’s working, and allow your business to evolve with you, this one will land.

  • The Pause Was the Point
    Jan 19 2026

In this episode, I’m talking about the pause — and why it wasn’t burnout, failure, or a lack of discipline. It was information.

I share why I stepped away from the podcast without a plan, what it felt like to have nothing to say, and why I refused to force content just to stay visible. This season has been about learning the difference between moving through resistance and honoring true misalignment.

I talk openly about mental health, perimenopause, and starting hormone replacement therapy — and how regulation, not numbness, changed how I move through stress, endings, and uncertainty.

You’ll hear reflections on losing a major contract without imploding, trusting that what’s meant for me won’t miss me, and what’s quietly coming back online behind the scenes.

If you’re in a season where pushing feels heavier than it used to, this episode is your reminder:

Sometimes the most anti-hustle move is to stop — and trust what comes next.

  • When Nothing Works Anymore (and Why That Might Be the Point) - Featuring Jelan Agnew
    Dec 15 2025

Welcome back to the Anti Hustle Business Podcast. This season is all about storytelling, honesty, and letting real humans share what it actually looks like to build a life and business outside of hustle culture — especially when things don’t go according to plan.

In this episode, Shannon is joined by returning guest Jelan Agnew — licensed clinical social worker, award-winning keynote and TEDx speaker, and someone who is living proof that sometimes everything has to fall apart before it finally clicks. They talk candidly about what 2025 has been like behind the scenes, from business slowing down to identity shedding, sobriety milestones, and choosing purpose over performance.

Jelan shares how she’s leaned into university and college speaking after realizing her TEDx talk was already opening the right doors, why she’s stopped forcing offers that don’t want to exist, and what it really takes to land speaking gigs (hint: it’s not passive). The conversation also goes deep into sobriety, recovery, and the freedom that comes from finally seeing the life you built — and deciding whether you actually want it.

This episode is honest, funny, grounding, and deeply validating if you’ve felt like nothing is working the way it used to… and maybe that’s the point.

Press play to hear Jelan’s full story, what she’s creating now, and why trusting the unknown might be the most anti-hustle move there is.
