A breath count isn’t always a count of seconds. In this episode, we explain why breathing exercises use a count to maintain the ratio between inhales, holds, and exhales—not to keep perfect time. Beginner exercises may use a faster pace, while advanced versions slow things down, and in real life, the pace naturally varies.
Peter talks with Rico Riley, owner of Black Mountain Adventures, about why we’re conditioned to connect counting with specific amounts of time—and why it’s better not to get caught up in being perfect. We also discuss how adjusting the video playback speed can help you find a pace that works for you.
