Golf's First Super Shoe? Inside ParLinx Performance

What happens when a lifelong golfer and a former Nike footwear designer decide to rethink everything about golf shoes?

On this special interview episode of The Chasing Daylight Podcast, Matt sits down with Brian Kelly and Peter Backus, the co-founders of ParLinx Performance, to explore their innovative P-1 golf shoe.

Peter brings more than 30 years of footwear design experience, including work with Nike, Oakley, and The North Face. His career includes Nike running shoes, early Tiger Woods golf footwear, and the first Jordan golf shoe.

Now, he's bringing that experience to ParLinx.

The P-1 isn't designed to look or perform like a traditional golf shoe. Featuring a specially tuned carbon-fiber plate, a unique multi-layer spikeless traction system, and running-shoe-inspired cushioning, ParLinx believes it's created something entirely different.

But does the technology actually deliver on the golf course?

Matt has spent considerable time playing in the ParLinx P-1, and he shares his firsthand experience with comfort, stability, durability, and traction.

In This Episode:

• The story behind ParLinx Performance and its founders.
• Peter Backus's experience designing shoes for Nike and Jordan.
• Why ParLinx calls the P-1 "Golf's First Super Shoe."
• How carbon-fiber plates can influence walking comfort and swing stability.
• The engineering behind the shoe's unique spikeless traction.
• Why comfort doesn't have to come at the expense of performance.
• Waterproof versus water-resistant golf shoes.
• Bringing basketball-inspired sneaker styling to golf.
• What's next for ParLinx, including new designs and future products.

Whether you're a golfer who walks every round, a sneaker enthusiast, or someone looking for a different approach to golf footwear, this conversation is worth checking out.

Matt walks through CDP's community features, including player cards, what's-in-the-bag profiles, and a golf passport for tracking courses played. The crew invites listeners to contribute Vegas course rankings and condition reports, reflects on the final regular-season Vegas Golf Network event, and discusses ideas for future community outings.

There's plenty of gear talk, too. Matt shares how a swing change affected his ball flight and why he's testing Mitsubishi MMT iron shafts. The conversation also covers Bushnell affiliate news, CDP's support for Hesher Hack's hole-in-one challenge, Garsen grips, Blades Brown and celebrity golf, plus the usual Vegas stories and friendly arguments.

What is it actually like to qualify for and compete in the U.S. Mid-Am?

Trey Sanders joins the Chasing Daylight Podcast after earning his way into the USGA championship with a bogey-free 66 in qualifying. Trey takes us inside the entire experience—from arriving at Sand Valley and seeing his name on the USGA range for the first time to competing on championship setups at Sand Valley and The Lido.

We get into the speed and firmness of the golf courses, the mental and physical grind of tournament golf, first-tee nerves, what separates elite amateur players, and why Trey believes more golfers should test their games in competition.

The conversation also turns to one of amateur golf’s biggest debates: former professionals being reinstated as amateurs. Trey, a reinstated amateur himself, explains where he thinks the current system works—and where there may need to be a line.

Plus, we talk Mammoth Dunes, Erin Hills, Sand Valley vs. Bandon Dunes, South Shore at Lake Las Vegas, our NASCAR pit experience, and the latest updates to the Chasing Daylight Podcast Community.

Does golf still need the Presidents Cup? We debate its future, Team USA’s alternate-shot struggles, and the commercial breaks that keep interrupting the action as the Chasing Daylight Podcast celebrates episode 400.

Matt, Dan, and Jeremy also dig into Las Vegas golf course conditions. Matt shares why TPC Summerlin impressed him with firm fairways and fast greens, plus his mixed first impressions of Revere’s reopened Lexington course following its turf renovation.

Back on the professional golf side, we discuss Medinah’s redesign and Bryson DeChambeau’s backyard challenge videos. We also cover Matt's near hole-in-one with a 7-wood, a Rose & Fire customer-service update, and the Vegas Golf Network’s final stretch.

Most of all, this episode is about the community that helped us reach 400. We revisit the show’s beginnings, announce giveaway winners during the recording, and share plans for the next chapter of Chasing Daylight—from golfer profiles and course reports to questions for the hosts and future CDP events.

Are Las Vegas golf course conditions keeping up with rising green fees? In Episode 399 of The Chasing Daylight Podcast, Matt, Joe, Jeremy, and Dan share course updates, debate value for local golfers, and explain why player-submitted condition reports matter.

The crew discusses improving greens at Reflection Bay, the surprisingly green look of The Club at Sunrise, updates from Angel Park, and renovation news from Revere’s Lexington course. Coyote Springs gets a closer look, including praise for its greens and concerns about the surrounding areas.

There’s plenty of equipment talk, too: Titleist Pro V1 versus Callaway Chrome Tour X, golf ball cover durability, headcovers that don’t hold up, and an Odyssey White Damascus putter find. Plus, the hosts weigh in on Scottie Scheffler’s schedule, discuss the golf distance debate, cheer on Trey’s Mid-Am trip, and preview the Episode 400 celebration.

Las Vegas golf course rankings should include the golfers who actually play here. In episode 398 of the Chasing Daylight Podcast, we break down the latest upgrades to our Vegas course conditions hub and explain how listeners can submit their own course rankings.

We cover free player profiles, more detailed practice facility reports, and a ranking system that awards 70 points for the course and 30 for the extras. You can save your progress, return later, and mark courses you haven’t played.

Then we get into the Wolf Creek debate, fall golf in Las Vegas, and why course conditions deserve more context than a comment-section takedown. Dormancy, irrigation, weather, and maintenance budgets all enter the conversation.

Also on the show: San Diego golf and Torrey Pines pricing, discussion of possible PGA Tour changes, the final VGN major at Coyote Springs, and Matt’s enthusiasm for Callaway’s Mini Spinners.

Played a Vegas course recently? Share what you found. Golfers helping golfers—that’s the point.

Planning a round of golf in Las Vegas just got a little easier.

In Episode 397 of the Chasing Daylight Podcast, Matt unveils the new Vegas Golf Course Conditions hub on ChasingDaylightPodcast.com — a community-powered resource designed to give Las Vegas locals and traveling golfers current information before they book a tee time.

Golfers can report greens, fairways, tee boxes, bunkers, pace of play, what they paid, cart restrictions, maintenance issues, overseeding, and more. Recent reports automatically move to the top so golfers can quickly see what a course is actually playing like right now.

Then Matt unloads on one of golf's biggest problems: slow play. After brutal experiences at Rhodes Ranch and Boulder Creek, the guys debate ready golf, better marshaling, consequences for slow groups, and whether premium tee times should come with pace-of-play expectations.

The conversation also gets into rising Las Vegas golf prices, possible cart and water fees, LIV Golf's Chapter 11 news, the Walker Cup, the Irish Open, future Walker Cup venues, and more.

Plus, a shoutout to Harry Hall after another strong finish in Europe and an update on Chasing Daylight video episodes expanding beyond YouTube

The Callaway and Good Good fallout continues — and this week things get even more interesting.

On Episode 396 of the Chasing Daylight Podcast, Matt, Joe, Jeremy, and Dan dig into the latest developments surrounding Callaway and Good Good, including reported personnel changes, the reaction across golf social media, and whether the online outrage actually reflects what everyday golfers think. Matt also gives his perspective while making one thing very clear: he works for Callaway, but his opinions on the podcast are his own.

Then there are the LIV Golf rumors. The guys react to speculation about financial trouble, bankruptcy, and the idea of players potentially being compensated with equity in a future version of LIV.

Also on the show: Scottie Scheffler's win at East Lake and the Player of the Year debate, the latest Presidents Cup captain's picks, questionable MyGolfSpy wedge rankings, escalating Las Vegas golf prices, the current condition of Coyote Springs, and a look at the YouTube Golf Tournament episode filmed at Rams Hill.

And, as usual, the live chat takes the show in a few directions nobody planned.

TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE:
- Callaway and Good Good fallout continues
- Personnel changes following the Good Good controversy
- Is social media exaggerating the Callaway backlash?
- LIV Golf bankruptcy and player-equity rumors
- MyGolfSpy's 2026 wedge rankings
- Scottie Scheffler wins at East Lake
- Player of the Year debate
- Coyote Springs course-condition report
- Shadow Creek and Wynn golf pricing
