In this interview, Dr. Lazare delves into the topic of biomimetic dentistry, and ways to treat his patients without performing root canals, posts or crowns . His goal is to preserve the integrity of the tooth without taking away the tooth structure with root canals. This is done using adhesives.

  • The Key to Keep Your Teeth for Life!
    Apr 10 2024

We are thrilled to offer the latest episode of The Confident Smile Podcast. In this episode, we chat with Dr. Jeffrey Hoos. Dr. Hood is owner of Brush & Floss dental center in Stratford Ct. Dr. Hoos is a world renowned dental practitioner. He has invented many successful techniques to provide the best dental experience possible. His philosophy is to provide the highest quality dentistry in a friendly atmosphere. A vital part of this is really taking the time to get to know you and understand your needs. His goal is “teeth for a lifetime” and he goes to great lengths to preserve a person’s natural teeth as long as possible.

In this interview, Dr. Hoos delves into the topic of our smile and how to keep teeth for a lifetime. It is so important to teach people how to brush properly, floss properly and use the right toothpaste and oral rinses so they can maintain their teeth for life.

Dr. Hoos recommends going to the dentist twice a year but it really depends not the patient. Some need to go more often and it usually depends on their at home care.

Using the right toothbrush you will reduce the plaque on their teeth. Then using the right oral rinse you can reduce the inflammation and keep the gums healthy.

As patients hit their late 50’s they may develop some issues as gum recession, spaces, inflammation etc. They need to be brushing properly at the gum line to reduce plaque bacteria. Also the use of an electric toothbrush is very important for older people or people who cannot floss well between the teeth.

You have to be cognizant of what is going on in your mouth. If you see bleeding gum while brushing that means something is happening and the tissue is not strong enough of the mechanics of cleaning your teeth. You should go see your dentist because something is going on and needs a professional.

    Remember

    1. Brush with a mechanical brush in the morning & night
    2. Floss at morning and night
    3. Use PeriActive Oral Rinse in the morning & night

  • How to achieve the ideal smile and keep it for life
    Mar 19 2024

We are thrilled to offer the latest episode of The Confident Smile Podcast. In this episode, we chat with Dr. Jason Kasarsky. Dr. Kasarsky is a private practice cosmetic dentist on Madison Avenue in New York City. Dr. Kasarsky has the ability to create the ideal smile so that the patient is happy and has that smile for life.

In this interview, Dr. Kasarsky delves into the topic of cosmetic dentistry, and ways to give his patients the smile that they always wanted. He looks at the teeth and then he looks at the gums and gum issues. He factors all of these into the decisions on how to give the patient exactly what they are looking for.

Below are the three main dental restorations:

Composite fillings, veneers, and crowns are all dental restorations used to improve the appearance and function of teeth, but they serve different purposes and are applied differently. Here's a brief overview of each:

    Composite Fillings:

Composite fillings are used to repair teeth that have been damaged by decay or trauma.

They are made of a tooth-colored resin material that can be molded and shaped to match the natural contours of the tooth.

The procedure involves removing the decayed portion of the tooth, cleaning the area, and then filling it with the composite material.

Composite fillings are typically used for small to medium-sized cavities and are bonded directly to the tooth.

    Veneers:

Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain or composite resin that are custom-made to fit over the front surface of the teeth.

They are used to improve the appearance of teeth that are discolored, misaligned, chipped, or worn down.

The procedure involves removing a small amount of enamel from the front surface of the teeth to make room for the veneers.

Veneers are then bonded to the teeth using dental cement, providing a natural-looking and durable solution to cosmetic dental issues.

    Crowns:

Crowns, also known as caps, are tooth-shaped covers that encase the entire visible portion of a tooth above the gum line.

They are used to restore the shape, size, strength, and appearance of teeth that are significantly damaged or weakened.

Crowns can be made of various materials, including porcelain, metal, or a combination of both, depending on the patient's needs and preferences.

The procedure involves preparing the tooth by removing a portion of its outer structure to accommodate the crown.

The crown is then placed over the prepared tooth and cemented into place, restoring its function and appearance.

Keeping dental restorations for life requires good oral hygiene practices and regular dental check-ups. Here are some key tips for maintaining dental restorations:

Brushing and flossing: Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss once a day to remove plaque and food particles from around dental restorations. Proper oral hygiene helps prevent decay and gum disease, which can compromise the integrity of restorations.

Using PeriActive Rinse (www.getperiactive.com) This rinse is clinically proven to reduce inflammation and keeps your gums healthy.

Regular dental visits: Schedule regular dental check-ups at a minimum of 3 times per year. During these visits, your dentist can examine your restorations for signs of wear, decay, or other issues and address them before they worsen.

Watch for signs of trouble: Be aware of any changes in your dental restorations, such as sensitivity, pain, looseness, or rough edges. If you notice any issues, contact your dentist promptly for evaluation and treatment.
